Ludhiana 18-December 2025-Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana conducted a three days Goat and Sheep Farming Training Programme for the farmers of Kashmir Division. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 14 trainees, hailing from various districts of Kashmir. This programme was funded by Sheep Husbandry department of Kashmir.

Dr. J.P.S. Gill, Vice Chancellor said that our institute is catering the needs of farmers and other stake holders especially of Northern India. He said that these types of inter state trainings provide blend of diverse farming culture.

Dr. R. S. Grewal, Director of Extension Education, stated that the university is dedicated to the economic advancement, sustainability, and well-being of livestock farmers . He mentioned that Goat and Sheep farming has become quite popular among farmers because of its growth and profitability, and the university is giving all the information and guidance they need to start Goat and Sheep farming on scientific basis. He also chaired the valedictory session and appreciated the active involvement of participants and encouraged them to adopt Sheep and Goat farming as a sustainable livelihood option.

Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Course Director and HoD, Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension Education revealed that the training comprised a blend of theory and practical sessions, equipping participants with scientific knowledge and hands-on skills in Goat & Sheep farming. Experts from the university delivered sessions on housing, breeding, nutrition, health management, and marketing strategies related to milk & meat production, sale of milk & meat and value addition of produce.

The programme was successfully coordinated by Dr. Parteek Singh Dhaliwal. He informed that university regularly organise different training Programs for the farmers on different aspects of livestock farming, both on-campus and off-campus.
