Chandigarh, December 22:- City Mayor Smt. Harpreet Kaur Babla, along with Area Councillor Sh. Kanwarjit Singh Rana, Jasmanpreet Singh, Councillor and concerned officials of the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, today laid the foundation stone for the strengthening of the sewerage system in various streets of Village Burail.
The project aims to provide permanent relief to residents from longstanding sewerage-related problems in the area.
Addressing the gathering, the Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation had been receiving repeated complaints regarding frequent sewer blockages and overflows in Village Burail. Upon inspection, field officers found that the existing sewer lines were of inadequate diameter and were heavily silted, making both manual and mechanical cleaning ineffective.
To address the issue on a long-term and sustainable basis, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has planned comprehensive sewerage strengthening works. These include the laying of sewer pipelines of increased diameter, construction of additional manhole chambers, and provision of new house sewer connections along the proposed alignment.
The scope of work also includes disposal of surplus soil, sand filling, road cutting and restoration, and reconnection of sewer and water supply lines wherever required.
The project has been approved at a total estimated cost of ₹91.00 lakh.
Mayor emphasized that the timely execution of the project is crucial to minimize inconvenience to the public and to improve sanitation and overall living conditions in Village Burail.
