CHANDIGARH, 17.01.26-The Department of Fashion Designing, Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector 32-C, Chandigarh, organized a two-day workshop titled “Designer’s Insight: Critiques and Guidance on Students’ Capsule Collection” on 16th and 17th January 2026, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, in the Fashion Designing Department.
The resource persons, Ms. Shreya Singh, a Costume Designer from the Bollywood industry, Mumbai, and Mr. Karan Kumar, a Designer at The Floyde Edit and an alumnus of GGDSD College, shared their professional experiences and industry insights. The workshop began with a green welcome by Mr. Ashutosh Sharma, Registrar, who appreciated the department’s efforts to provide industry exposure to students.
Ms. Shreya Singh guided students on entering the film and entertainment industry, highlighting career pathways as costume designers and stylists. She emphasized the importance of assisting senior designers, building a strong portfolio, networking, and gaining on-set experience. Mr. Karan Kumar shared his professional portfolio with the students, explained his design journey, and guided them on effective portfolio presentation, brand aesthetics, and career planning, including opportunities in fashion design and entrepreneurship.
Students presented their capsule collections and received expert feedback on design concepts, fabrics, silhouettes, and presentation skills. The interactive sessions enhanced students’ confidence, refined their design aesthetics, and provided clarity on industry expectations.
The workshop was organized under the guidance of Dr. Sumita Sikka, Head of the Department of Fashion Designing, with the organizing committee comprising Ms. Tania Sharma, Ms. Ekta Dhiman, Ms. Dikshita Chauhan, and Ms. Rupali Jindal.
Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal of GGDSD College, played a pivotal role in supporting the event, fostering an environment conducive to learning and innovation. Mr Ashutosh Sharma concluded the workshop with a vote of thanks to the resource persons.
