Chandigarh, February 1:The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, today inspected several key public sites in the city to assess infrastructure and facilities, with the aim of improving public amenities and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

During the visit, the Administrator inspected the Japanese Garden, Sector 31, and the Garden of Palms, Sector 42, including the Sector-42 Lake. He reviewed the park facilities and directed the concerned departments to improve the maintenance of walking tracks, benches and fencing, ensure cleanliness, and maintain adequate water levels in the lake.

The Administrator also inspected the Chandigarh Botanical Garden, Sarangpur, where he advised officials to develop the garden as a major tourist attraction. During the visit, he inaugurated the Hi-Tech Nursery - Advanced Plant Propagation Unit, established to raise healthy and fast-growing saplings using modern technology. The facility will support afforestation, eco-restoration and urban greening, while promoting biodiversity and the efficient use of resources.

Later, the Administrator inspected the Community Centre, Sector 38, Chandigarh, where he reviewed the existing infrastructure and facilities. He directed officials to rejuvenate and upgrade other old community gathering halls within the premises for better public use.

The inspections were undertaken to strengthen public infrastructure and ensure that citizens are provided with well-maintained, accessible and quality public facilities across Chandigarh.
