He encouraged students and researchers to apply for prestigious fellowships like Fulbright.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma shared his experience as a two-time Fulbright fellow and emphasized that a strong academic profile, a clear research vision, and a global perspective are essential for selection. He further remarked that the Fulbright experience is truly a lifetime experience. Contrary to the common belief that the Fulbright journey ends with the visa or grant period, its real value begins afterward, as one becomes a part of the global Fulbright community. There is nothing like an “Ex-Fulbrighter,” and the network continues to provide strong support, collaborations, and opportunities.
The participants were formally welcomed and the USIEF delegation was introduced by Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh, Dean, Office of International Affairs and Organizing Secretary. The delegation included Dr. Sudarsan Dash, Senior Program Officer, and Ms. Pratibha Nair and Ms. Viji Shibu Ninan, Program Coordinators from USIEF, New Delhi.
The USIEF team highlighted opportunities available for Ph.D. scholars, recent Ph.D. graduates (within the last four years), and faculty members. They also provided important tips and cautions for preparing successful applications, emphasizing that the probability of selection depends on how carefully and effectively the application is prepared.
During the session, detailed information about various Fulbright fellowship programs was shared with postgraduate students, researchers, and faculty members. The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging and getting their queries addressed. Around 200 students, researchers, and faculty members from 12 departments of the University participated in the session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Harish Kumar.
