Chandigarh, April 9, 2026: The first day of Poshan Pakhwada was marked with great enthusiasm across all 450 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs), focusing on spreading awareness about nutrition and healthy practices among the community.

As part of the major activities, a Poshan Pledge was administered in all AWCs to encourage collective commitment towards improved nutrition and health. Special programmes such as “Dadi Nani ke Anubhavon se Poshan evam Swasthya Sandesh” were organized at Palsora, and “Poshan Pe Charcha” was conducted at RC Dhanas-I in the form of talk shows, group discussions, and Panchayat Sabhas to promote awareness on key nutrition themes.

Alongside, various minor activities were carried out including youth group meetings, promotion of millets, campaigns for backyard kitchen gardens, and home visits to encourage the use of millets in daily diets. Anganwadi Centres were also promoted as learning centres, with emphasis on early breastfeeding practices.

Further awareness activities included promotion of millets for pregnant women, discouraging junk and packaged food, strengthening pre-school education for children aged 3 to 6 years, and spreading awareness on immunization during home visits.

The celebrations witnessed active participation from community members, Anganwadi workers, and stakeholders, setting a positive tone for the upcoming days of Poshan Pakhwada.
