Chandigarh, April 10:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has stepped up its efforts to strengthen the city’s sanitation and waste management framework by convening a high-level review meeting aimed at enhancing efficiency and ensuring sustainable cleanliness.
The meeting was chaired by MC Commissioner Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS and attended by Joint Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Gupta, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Inderdeep Kaur, along with other senior officials of the Corporation.
During the deliberations, a comprehensive review of the existing sanitation system and waste management practices was undertaken. Key focus areas included streamlining door-to-door waste collection.

MC Chandigarh to organize weekly ‘Suvidha Camps’ for hassle-free water & sewerage connections
Chandigarh, April 10:- In a major citizen-centric initiative, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has announced to organize weekly “Suvidha Camps” across the city to facilitate the issuance of water and sewerage connections through a single-window system.
The Suvidha Camps will be organised every Saturday from 10 am to 4.00 pm at designated community centres in different wards. The camps will be conducted under the supervision of concerned SDEs (Public Health) in close coordination with area councillors.
To ensure seamless operations, SDEs, Junior Engineers, and sufficient supporting staff will remain present at each camp. Citizens visiting these camps will be able to submit applications for water and sewerage connections, receive on-the-spot guidance regarding documentation and formalities, and benefit from priority processing of their requests.
The Municipal Corporation has issued strict directions to all concerned officials to ensure prompt disposal of applications, minimizing delays and inconvenience to the public. Additionally, effective coordination with other departments will be maintained to deliver smooth and efficient services.
Reiterating its commitment to public welfare, the civic body emphasized that these camps will be conducted regularly as per schedule, with strict adherence to guidelines to provide transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly services.
The initiative will significantly streamline the process of obtaining essential civic connections while bringing services closer to the doorstep of residents.

MCC & NZCC to organize Baisakhi Mela 2026 at Sector 42 Lake on April 11
Chandigarh, April 10:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh in collaboration with the (NZCC), Patiala, is jointly organizing Baisakhi Mela 2026 on April 11, 2026, at the Lake, Sector 42, Chandigarh, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The event is being organized With the support of Channi Sabhyacharak Manch Regd., Jugni Culture & Youth Welfare Club and Punjabi Kala Kendra Regd. are organizing, with the objective of celebrating the vibrant cultural heritage and traditional spirit of Baisakhi.
The Baisakhi Mela will feature a series of cultural programs, including traditional folk dances, music performances, and other engaging activities reflecting the rich traditions of Punjab. The event aims to bring together citizens, artists, and cultural groups in a festive and inclusive environment.
