*Chandigarh, April 28:*Punjab Revenue Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian today handed over promotion orders to 23 officers of the Revenue Department during a brief function at Punjab Bhawan here.

Congratulating the officers, the Revenue Minister said the promotions acknowledge their long-standing contribution towards strengthening revenue administration in the state.

Notably, six officers have been promoted from Tehsildar to District Revenue Officer, eight from Naib Tehsildar to Tehsildar and nine from Kanungo to Naib Tehsildar.

S. Hardeep Singh Mundian said that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government is consistently working to ensure that government employees receive career progression within the stipulated time. He said a fair and transparent promotion process strengthens the administrative system and encourages officers to deliver better public services.

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner Revenue Mr. Anurag Verma also extended his congratulations, saying that the officers would continue to perform their duties with honesty and commitment in their new roles.

Public Works Minister visits Batch Type Hot Mix Plant at Rasanheri

Renovation work of 45000 km of roads of the state will be completed by June 2026: Harbhajan Singh E. T. O.

Chandigarh / Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, April 28:Public Works Minister Punjab Harbhajan Singh E. T. O. today visited the Batch Type Hot Mix Plant located in the morning at Rasanheri on Landran-Chunni road. During this visit, the Minister inquired about the mechanism to increase the efficiency of the plant and ensure quality standards.

Giving information about the visit, Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh E. T. O. said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has ordered the renovation of 45000 km of roads in the state, under which the work of renovation of roads in the entire state is going on on a war footing.

He said that this mixing plant has a daily capacity of about 800 tons. It was also informed that 450 tons of premix material is placed on one kilometer of plan road (18 feet) and currently about 100 hot mix plants in the state are working at their full capacity.

On this occasion, he requested the managers of hot type mix plants across the state to start the plant at 5 am so that the capacity of the hot mix plant can be further increased. In view of the war situation in the Gulf countries, the availability of the necessary aggregate for road construction is being ensured by coordinating with the refineries.

The Public Works Minister said that currently the construction of roads in the state is going on on a war footing so that this work can be completed completely by 30 June 2026 before the arrival of monsoon.

The Cabinet Minister also alerted the departmental officers to do good quality work.

On this occasion, the department's engineer, Chief Gagandeep Singh, along with the Chief Engineer, Exec and other officers were also present.

*CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Inagurates First Phase of Census 2027 "House Listing and Enumeration of Houses" from His Native Village Satoz*

*CM Urges Residents of Punjab to Actively Participate In Census Work for Effective Planning and Policy Making*

Chandigarh 28 April 2026:Taking a significant step towards promoting digital inclusion in Census 2027, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann today formally inaugurated the first phase of Census 2027 “House Listing and Enumeration of Houses” process in the state of Punjab. The Hon’ble Chief Minister completed his self-enumeration from his native village Satoz in Sangrur district through the official online census portal (se.census.gov.in), which is a significant step towards encouraging citizens to actively participate in the digital census process.

The smooth completion of this process was facilitated by Mr. Manjit Singh Brar, IAS Administrative Secretary, Local Government Department, Punjab and Director Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Directorate Census Operations, Punjab and UT. Chandigarh was accompanied by Shri Rahul Chaba, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Sangrur.

By personally undertaking the process of self-enumeration using the prescribed digital platform, the Hon’ble Chief Minister demonstrated the scale, accessibility and citizen-centric nature of this initiative. He called upon all the residents of Punjab to actively participate in the census work and adopt this technology-based process. This active participation of people of Punjab will set a strong example, which will encourages the people across the state to provide accurate and timely information for Census-2027.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister appealed to all the residents of Punjab to make maximum use of the facility of self-enumeration from 30th April 2026 to 14th May 2026, which will contribute towards creating a comprehensive and reliable national database as it is essential for effective planning and policy making. He also said that accurate census data is the backbone of governance, ensuring welfare schemes, infrastructure development and equitable distribution of resources.

“Self-enumeration” is a key feature of Census 2027, which allows individuals to conveniently fill their demographic and socio-economic details online. This initiative enhances transparency, efficiency and data accuracy, which is a significant step towards fully digitizing the census operations. It reduces reliance on manual processes, ensures faster data compilation and strengthens the overall integrity of the national database.

On this occasion, Dr. Navjot Khosa highlighted that the participation of respected personalities like the Hon’ble Chief Minister strengthened public confidence in the census process and encouraged the participation of a large segment of the society. He further said that wide adoption of self-enumeration will play a key role in ensuring inclusive and comprehensive coverage in both urban and rural areas.

The first phase of Census 2027, namely house listing and enumeration of houses, will be conducted through a door-to-door survey from May 15 to June 13, 2026. During this campaign, 33 questions related to the condition of houses, amenities and assets will be asked. Each house will be counted to ensure that no household is left out in this important national campaign.
