CHANDIGARH, 29.04.26-The Sports Cell of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Chandigarh, organized a significant press conference today at the party’s state office in Sector-33. Prominent leaders present on the occasion included State President Jitender Pal Malhotra, State General Secretary Ramveer Bhatti, State General Secretary Sanjeev Rana, State Media Incharge Ravi Rawat, Sports Cell Convener Prabhjeet Singh Lamba, Co-Convener Harish Kakkar, and State Secretary Meenakshi Thakur.

Addressing the press conference, Sports Cell Convener Prabhjeet Singh Lamba and State President Jitender Pal Malhotra announced that the BJP Chandigarh Sports Cell is organizing “Chandigarh Khelo Games 2026” to provide a positive direction to the youth through sports. The event is specifically aimed at emerging Under-19 players, offering them a strong platform to showcase their talent.

They informed that the competition will include 11 sports disciplines such as Football, Basketball, Kabaddi, Rugby, Netball, Volleyball, Judo, Karate, Table Tennis, and Track & Field events including 100m, 200m, and 400m races, along with Long Jump and High Jump. The sports event will be organized from May 11 to May 17, 2026, at Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Prabhjeet Singh Lamba stated that the primary objective of this event is to keep the youth of Chandigarh away from the menace of drugs. He emphasized that engaging youth in sports will not only keep them physically fit but also mentally strong. Sports instill discipline and motivate individuals to excel in life.

He further informed that registration for “Chandigarh Khelo Games 2026” is completely free of cost to encourage maximum participation. On this occasion, the Chandigarh team that performed exceptionally well in the 38th Junior Netball National Under-19 Championship held in Muzaffarnagar from March 23 to April 2 was also honored. The team secured a Bronze Medal. The BJP Sports Cell honored the players at the party office Kamalam, Sector-33, by presenting them with tracksuits as a mark of appreciation.

State President Jitender Pal Malhotra congratulated the players on their achievement and termed it a proud moment for Chandigarh. He also announced that the Sports Department, UT Chandigarh will award a cash prize of тВ╣1 lakh to each player, which will further boost their morale.

All speakers reiterated that the BJP Chandigarh Sports Cell will continue to organize such initiatives in the future to motivate youth and guide them towards a healthy, disciplined, and drug-free lifestyle.
