Chandigarh, 5 May: In recognition of its sustained and exemplary contribution to the nationally acclaimed Project Sarathi, the NSS Units of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women were felicitated during the second annual celebration of ‘Sarathi Day’ held at Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh.
The event was graced by Mr. Rajesh Prasad, Chief Secretary, Chandigarh Administration, as the Chief Guest, while Ms. Prerna Puri, Secretary, Education, Chandigarh Administration, attended as the Guest of Honour.
Commending the spirit of service demonstrated by the young volunteers, the Mr. Rajesh Prasad lauded their meaningful contribution towards strengthening healthcare support systems through compassionate and selfless engagement.
The college was honoured for its outstanding role in supporting and coordinating student volunteer services under Project Sarathi. Over the past year, nearly 200 students from the institution have served under the initiative, reflecting the college’s steadfast commitment to the noble cause. Significantly, 25 NSS volunteers rendered more than 120 hours of dedicated service, exemplifying extraordinary perseverance and social commitment. The NSS volunteers played a vital role in facilitating the smooth functioning of hospital services by assisting patients with registration procedures, guiding them to relevant departments, and creating awareness regarding hospital protocols and facilities. Their consistent efforts greatly enhanced patient experience and contributed towards streamlining hospital operations.
Among the volunteers who actively participated in the initiative were Disket, Vanshika, Sonia, Aastha, Manjot, Harpreet, Nanaki, Khushi, Maithali, Bhoomika, Taab, Devanshi, Devyanka, Jiya, Isha, Khanak, Bhumika, Dhriti Chopra, Navdeep, and Nehal.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma expressed immense pride in the dedication and accomplishments of the volunteers. She remarked that such recognition not only acknowledges their sincere efforts but also inspires them to continue striving for higher standards of commitment, empathy, and social responsibility. She further reaffirmed the institution’s unwavering support for Project Sarathi and its mission of community service.
