Chandigarh, May 9— Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new government in West Bengal. On the occasion, he congratulated newly-appointed Chief Minister Sh. Suvendu Adhikari and the people of West Bengal.

The Chief Minister said the day was historic and that the victory represented the triumph of the resolve for a developed India by 2047. He said Subhas Chandra Bose and Syama Prasad Mukherjee’s historic land of West Bengal would play a key role in giving new direction to the country.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, West Bengal would play an important role in realising the vision of a developed India. He expressed confidence that the new government would set new benchmarks in development, good governance and public welfare in the State.

The Chief Minister said the people of West Bengal had extended their support in favour of development, national interest and good governance. He added that the Centre and the State would work together to achieve the goal of Viksit Bharat-2047.

Somnath Swabhiman Parv – 1000 Years of Unbroken Faith’ to be celebrated across Haryana on May 11

Chief Minister to attend Kurukshetra event as chief guest

Chandigarh, May 9 — The Haryana Government will organise Somnath Swabhiman Parv – 1000 Years of Unbroken Faith programmes across the State on May 11, 2026. The event will be dedicated to India’s Sanatan culture, faith, self-respect and glorious civilisational heritage.

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Union Ministers, State Ministers and Members of Parliament will attend the programmes being organised in different districts as chief guests.

The objective of the programme is to connect the younger generation with the country’s cultural heritage, Sanatan traditions and the glorious history of the Somnath Temple. The event symbolises India’s unwavering faith and self-respect, which has kept its cultural consciousness alive despite numerous challenges over the centuries.

Under the programme, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini will attend the event in Kurukshetra, Union Minister of State Sh. Rao Inderjit Singh in Nuh, Union Minister of State Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar in Faridabad, Speaker Haryana Vidhan Sabha Sh. Harvinder Kalyan in Karnal, Deputy Speaker Dr. Krishan Lal Middha in Jind, Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij in Ambala, Development and Panchayats Minister Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar in Sonipat, and Industries and Commerce Minister Sh. Rao Narbir Singh in Gurugram as chief guests.

Flood Control Works must be Completed by June 15 – Shruti Choudhry

Minister directs officers to expedite drain cleaning and water drainage works before the monsoon

Strict action will be taken against negligence, directions issued to officers and contractors over incomplete works

Flood control works reviewed in the 57th HSDR and FCB meeting

Chandigarh, May 9 – Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister, Ms. Shruti Choudhry said that all pending works related to drain cleaning, desilting of rivers, and short-term flood control measures must be completed by June 15 at all costs so that the public does not face any inconvenience during the monsoon season.

The Minister issued these directions to officers of the Irrigation Department during the review meeting of drain cleaning, river desilting, and short-term flood control works held in the 57th Haryana State Drought Relief and Flood Control Board (HSDR & FCB) meeting.

The Minister direetd the officers that the final review of these works would be conducted personally by Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, and therefore negligence at any level would not be tolerated. During the meeting, detailed information regarding the progress of flood control and water drainage works being carried out across the state was also reviewed.

Fixing accountability of officers, the Minister stated that strict action would be taken against the concerned Chief Engineer if any delay or compromise in quality was found in the execution of works. She said the government is completely serious about flood control measures and no laxity in this regard would be accepted.

She further directed that works which have not yet commenced should be started immediately on a war footing so that all projects can be completed within the stipulated timeframe. Instructions were also issued to all concerned officials to complete the procurement process of pumps and pipes required for water drainage well in time.

During the meeting, the decisions taken in the 56th meeting and the progress of the works were also reviewed. The Minister directed that all remaining works be completed without delay and directed every officer to ensure regular monitoring in their respective areas.

Taking a strict stance regarding contractors, Ms. Shruti Choudhry directed officers to immediately blacklist contractors who are not completing allotted works on time, so that development works are not hampered in any way.

She said that the state government is giving top priority to public safety and better water management, and all departmental officers should work with full responsibility and promptness.
