Chandigarh, 22 May: On the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity 2026, the Eco Club- Parivesh of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised an interactive awareness session at Government Model High School, Sector 41-D, Village Badheri, adopted under NSS. The programme aimed to sensitise students towards biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability. This year’s global theme for International Day for Biological Diversity, ‘Acting Locally for Global Impact’, formed the focal point of the session.

The event was graced by Mrs. Sanjogita, Headmistress of Government Model High School, Sector 41-D, Village Badheri, who appreciated the dedicated efforts of Eco Club- Parivesh in nurturing environmental consciousness among young learners.

The session was conducted by Dr. Purnima Bhandari, Assistant Professor at the college, along with Eco Club volunteers Ms. Shrinjal Chauhan and Ms. Shranya. Through engaging discussions, informative activities, and awareness-based interactions, the team highlighted the significance of preserving biodiversity and protecting natural ecosystems for future generations. The speakers encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives and actively contribute towards the conservation of flora, fauna, and natural resources. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by students and teachers to safeguard nature and work towards building a greener and healthier environment.

Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded the efforts of the Eco Club volunteers and underscored the importance of community outreach initiatives in fostering environmental awareness among school students. She emphasised that such programmes play a vital role in inspiring young minds to become responsible citizens and proactive contributors to biodiversity conservation.
