Chandigarh, 25.05.26 : As part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness about visa fraud and promote safe and legal travel to the United Kingdom, the British High Commission organised a community outreach session at Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Lopoke, Amritsar, under its ‘Visa Fraud Se Bache’ campaign.

The programme aimed to educate youngsters, students and members of the local community about the risks associated with visa fraud and irregular migration.
British Deputy High Commissioner Chandigarh, Alba Smeriglio, attended the event as the chief guest.

Addressing the students during the session, Rajinder S Nagarkoti, Senior Advisor at the British High Commission, explained how fraudsters exploit people through fake promises, forged documents and misleading information related to overseas travel. He highlighted the serious consequences of illegal migration and stressed the importance of following only genuine and authorised visa processes.

Principal Jatinder Hans and his team welcomed the British High Commission delegation and thanked them for conducting the awareness session.

The team also shared information about the British High Commission’s dedicated WhatsApp chatbot, which provides verified guidance related to UK travel in English, Hindi and Punjabi. The chatbot helps people identify fraudulent practices and understand legal migration pathways.
