Chandigarh, June 23— Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Minister, Smt. Shruti Choudhry on Tuesday chaired a key meeting of the Departmental High-Powered Purchase Committee (DHPPC) of the Irrigation and Water Resources Department at the Civil Secretariat. Haryana Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, a detailed review was done on preparations for flood management in view of the upcoming monsoon season.

During the meeting, the committee unanimously approved all 16 agenda items pertaining to the procurement of pipes and high-capacity water pumps for tackling waterlogging and flood-like situations across the state.

Notably, the State Government will spend more than Rs. 30 crore on the purchase of these equipment and materials.

The Minister said that this initiative would significantly strengthen the drainage infrastructure in vulnerable and low-lying areas of the state.

Smt. Shruti Choudhry directed offices to ensure the timely supply of all materials related to flood control measures. She directed that suppliers must strictly adhere to the prescribed delivery schedules. Emphasising the urgency of preparedness, the Minister stated that any delay or laxity in pre-monsoon arrangements would not be tolerated, so that the public can be protected from the problems caused by waterlogging.

Smt. Shruti Choudhry said that the department’s primary objective is to safeguard every citizen and prevent agricultural land from being submerged due to flooding.

Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda also appreciated the department’s efforts and said that these prompt decisions would prove to be game-changers in flood control at the grassroots level.

Senior administrative officers and technical experts of the department were also present at the meeting. They briefed the committee on the framework being adopted to ensure transparency in procurement processes and adherence to quality standards.

Chandigarh June 23- Haryana Development and Panchayts Minister, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar, while presiding over the District Public Relations and Grievances Redressal Committee meeting in Kurukshetra on Tuesday, directed officers to suspend the manager of the Kirmach Cooperative Society again. He also directed the DR not to reinstate the manager until the inquiry is completed.

During the hearing of a complaint filed by Rajesh Sharma, a resident of village Kirmach, it came to light that the suspended manager had been reinstated despite the inquiry still being underway. In another case, the Minister directed that a case be registered against the coloniser of Ansal Sushant City and ordered a detailed investigation into every aspect of the matter. In a separate complaint, he directed the police to expedite the arrest of two suspended inspectors of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

Notably, of the 11 cases listed on the agenda, six were resolved on the spot, while directions were issued to committees and officials concerned for the disposal of the remaining five cases. Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Vishram Kumar Meena and other dignitaries attended the meeting.

Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar directed the DR to remove all individuals who had allegedly secured appointments in cooperative societies through irregular means. He further directed that if any such person continued to work despite being removed, action should be initiated against the concerned officials. He also ordered a proper inquiry into the matter relating to The Kirmach Cooperative Society.

The Minister disposed of complaints relating to residents of Shastri Colony Ward No. 4, payment issues concerning sanitation workers, and grievances raised by Harsh Bawa of village Bilauna and Om Prakash of village Barwa.

Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar heard the complaint submitted by residents of Ansal Sushant City and examined the report submitted by a committee headed by SDM. After reviewing the report and hearing the complainants, he observed that several shortcomings and deficiencies had surfaced on the part of the coloniser, causing considerable inconvenience to residents of the colony.

He directed that a case be registered against the coloniser at the earliest and that a comprehensive investigation be conducted into every aspect of the matter. He further said that a written recommendation regarding the pending works in the colony would be sent to the Director, Town and Country Planning Department.

Additionally, he directed the HSVP and the Public Health Engineering Department to constitute a committee and ensure that residents are provided with water supply and drainage facilities at the earliest. Based on the report submitted by SDM and the committee, the Minister also directed that proposals for development works worth Rs. 14 crore in the colony be forwarded to the DTP Headquarters.

Police Asked to Expedite Arrest of Two Suspended Inspectors

While hearing a complaint filed by Sonu Narang, a resident of Mahavir Colony, Ladwa, the Minister directed the police to expedite the arrest of two suspended inspectors of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

He said that both inspectors had already been denied bail by the High Court. During the previous committee meeting, directions had been issued to include both officials in the investigation, however, at that time, proceedings relating to their bail applications were pending before the court.

Illegal Openings in Housing Board Park to be Closed, Concrete Structure to be Demolished

Acting on a complaint filed by a welfare society and a report submitted by a committee headed by SDM, Sh. Shambhu Rathi, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar directed that the illegally constructed gate and window opening into the Housing Board Sector-1 Shahabad Markanda park be sealed immediately.

He further ordered that the concrete slab constructed at the site be demolished. To prevent vehicles from entering the park, he directed that the size of the gate be reduced. Necessary steps were also ordered for the improvement and maintenance of the park.

Legal Action to Follow if Monetary Dispute Is Not Settled Within 15 Days

While hearing a complaint filed by Rajpal Khurana of Panipat, the Minister directed the police to initiate legal action if the parties concerned failed to settle the monetary dispute within 15 days.

In another matter, he directed Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Vishram Kumar Meena to write to the Education Department regarding payment dues owed to a vendor and to issue reminders for follow-up so that the pending payment could be released.

Deputy Commissioner to Conduct Joint Site Inspection with Power Department

While hearing a complaint filed by Rajdev Kumar, a resident of Parshuram Colony, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar directed the Deputy Commissioner and the Power Department to conduct a joint site inspection.

The complaint pertains to a request for shifting a 33 KV power line passing over a residential house under a government scheme. The Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintending Engineer (SE), the Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Power Department, and two committee members to inspect the site and submit a report regarding the matter.

Thanesar MLA, Sh. Ashok Arora, Shahabad MLA, Sh. Ram Karan, Superintendent of Police, Sh. Chander Mohan, and other dignitaries also remained present during the meeting.

115 Kilometres of Model Roads to be Developed in Haryana, Construction Work to Commence Soon, says Minister

Chandigarh, June 23- Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa has directed officers to ensure that all administrative, technical and financial formalities are completed during the monsoon season so that road construction and improvement works can be launched expeditiously as soon as weather conditions become favourable. He emphasised that special attention must be paid to quality and safety standards in all construction activities.

Chairing a review meeting with senior officers of the Public Works Department on Tuesday, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa reviewed the progress of Model Road projects proposed to be developed in all 22 districts of the state in accordance with the Chief Minister’s announcements and other departmental projects.

Officers apprised the Chief Minister that the total length of these Model Roads would be approximately 115 kilometres. These roads will be developed as ideal roads of the state, incorporating beautification measures, modern amenities and enhanced road safety features. Officers further said that surveys of the eight selected roads by expert agencies are expected to be completed in July. Administrative approval for the Model Road projects is also likely to be granted by July, following which construction work will commence.

During the meeting, officers also briefed the Minister on the progress of the department’s work programme for the year 2026-27. They informed him that out of the proposed 1,633 roads, estimates for 1,042 roads have already been prepared and submitted, while the process for the remaining roads is being completed on a priority basis.

Sh. Ranbir Gangwa directed officers to expedite all road construction and repair works. He stressed that all necessary documentation and procedural formalities should be completed during the rainy season itself. He further asserted that no compromise whatsoever would be tolerated with regard to the quality of road construction.

Reviewing the performance of the “Mhari Sadak” mobile application, the Minister directed the officers to incorporate details of all roads that are yet to be included on the platform. This, he said, would enable citizens to submit road-related complaints through the application and facilitate their prompt resolution. Officers informed the Minister that the department is developing a system through which citizens will be able to access detailed information about roads by scanning QR codes installed at the respective locations. Sh. Ranbir Gangwa directed officers to expedite this initiative as well.

The Minister further directed officers to undertake regular reviews of all projects, ensure their time-bound implementation and maintain complete transparency in execution. He said that providing the people of Haryana with a better, safer and more durable road network remains a priority of the government.

During the meeting, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa also directed officers to accelerate works being undertaken by the department in collaboration with the Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC). He reviewed various other departmental projects as well. The Minister specifically directed officers to expedite the construction of the new road proposed to connect Talwandi Rana with Hisar and reviewed the current status of the project.

Chandigarh, June 23: A significant meeting was held at the New Delhi residence of Union Jal Shakti Minister Sh. C.R. Patil between Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and Rajasthan Chief Minister Sh. Bhajanlal Sharma. Various issues related to water resources, irrigation, and drinking water concerning both states were discussed in detail. Senior officials from both states also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the supply of Rajasthan’s share of water under the 1994 Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB) Agreement. It was decided that Rajasthan would be provided its allocated share of water through a pipeline in accordance with the agreement. An MoU in this regard will be signed on Monday.

Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini stated that Haryana respects Rajasthan’s right to receive water under the agreement and will ensure the supply of its allocated share. He said that better management of water resources can be achieved through coordination and cooperation among states, benefiting all regions.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Sh. Bhajanlal Sharma said Rajasthan is only seeking the quantity of water allocated to it under the agreement. He added that if the surplus water flowing in rivers during the monsoon season is effectively utilized and given to Rajasthan, it could provide a permanent solution to the drinking water crisis in a large part of the state.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that the Renuka, Kishau and Lakhwar Dam Projects are extremely important for the states of North India and that efforts would be accelerated for their implementation. He said these projects would help meet future water requirements, enhance irrigation capacity, and strengthen drinking water availability. He further stated that coordination among the concerned states would be enhanced and necessary procedures completed expeditiously.

The Chief Minister also raised the issue of polluted water flowing into the Ghaggar River. He said separate treatment plants would be established for treating water entering the Ghaggar canal so that untreated wastewater does not flow into the river, thereby ensuring the cleanliness of water sources and environmental protection.

The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on water management, river conservation and various issues related to inter-state cooperation. Union Jal Shakti Minister Sh. C.R. Patil directed the concerned officials to take prompt action on the relevant matters and emphasized that better coordination among states is essential for the proper utilization and conservation of water resources.

International Gita Mahotsav Concludes in Kyoto, Japan with Global Message of Peace & Brotherhood

Chandigarh, June 23: The Japan edition of the International Gita Mahotsav concluded with a grand closing ceremony in the historic city of Kyoto, Japan, amid immense spiritual enthusiasm and cultural harmony. The event reiterated the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and placed special emphasis on the universal message of global peace, mutual brotherhood and selfless action.

As part of the celebrations, a prestigious academic seminar was organized at the University of Tokyo, while a grand Gita Harmony Procession was taken out on the streets of Edogawa, bringing together thousands of members of the Indian diaspora and the Japanese community.

Copies of the sacred Bhagavad Gita were presented at the Osaka Prefectural Assembly. The Assembly comprises 50 legislators, and notably, 49 of them are members of a distinguished organization known as the Indo-Japan Friendship Forum. A delegation from the Kurukshetra Development Board, led by Swami Gyananand Maharaj and Dr. Amit Agrawal, Commissioner and Secretary, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, and Member Secretary, Kurukshetra Development Board, presented copies of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to nine representative legislators. Discussions were also held on various aspects of Indian and Japanese culture, focusing on how the two nations, sharing similar values, culture, and traditions, can work together more closely.

Present at the Osaka Prefectural Assembly were Swami Gyananand Maharaj, Consul General of India Dr. Abdul Sami, Dr. Amit Agrawal, Honorary Secretary Upendra Singhal, Authority Member Vijay Narula, and dedicated members of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh.

Swami Gurusharananand Maharaj, while blessing the gathering, said that the ancient wisdom of the Gita serves as a strong bridge connecting the deep spiritual heritages of India and Japan.

Dr. Amit Agrawal highlighted the global relevance of the philosophy of the Gita in contemporary times. He explained how the Gita’s teachings of selfless action and ethical conduct can guide the world in addressing modern challenges.

One of the major attractions of the closing ceremony was a remarkable cross-cultural presentation by the renowned Otani Group through a special traditional Japanese Kabuki performance. Keizo Otani and Ryusei Otani captivated the international audience with their outstanding performances. The presentation reflected the deep cultural ties and mutual respect shared by India and Japan.

The grand and spiritually enriching event, organized by the Indian Embassy, marked the formal conclusion of the International Gita Mahotsav in Japan.

Under the guidance of Swami Gyananand Maharaj, the delegation of the Kurukshetra Development Board also met the Vice-Chancellor of Otani University to discuss research on the Gita and cultural exchange programmes between the two countries. In another matter, he directed Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Vishram Kumar Meena to write to the Education Department regarding payment dues owed to a vendor and to issue reminders for follow-up so that the pending payment could be released.

Deputy Commissioner to Conduct Joint Site Inspection with Power Department

While hearing a complaint filed by Rajdev Kumar, a resident of Parshuram Colony, Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar directed the Deputy Commissioner and the Power Department to conduct a joint site inspection.

The complaint pertains to a request for shifting a 33 KV power line passing over a residential house under a government scheme. The Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintending Engineer (SE), the Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Power Department, and two committee members to inspect the site and submit a report regarding the matter.

Thanesar MLA, Sh. Ashok Arora, Shahabad MLA, Sh. Ram Karan, Superintendent of Police, Sh. Chander Mohan, and other dignitaries also remained present during the meeting.

115 Kilometres of Model Roads to be Developed in Haryana, Construction Work to Commence Soon, says Minister

Chandigarh, June 23- Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa has directed officers to ensure that all administrative, technical and financial formalities are completed during the monsoon season so that road construction and improvement works can be launched expeditiously as soon as weather conditions become favourable. He emphasised that special attention must be paid to quality and safety standards in all construction activities.

Chairing a review meeting with senior officers of the Public Works Department on Tuesday, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa reviewed the progress of Model Road projects proposed to be developed in all 22 districts of the state in accordance with the Chief Minister’s announcements and other departmental projects.

Officers apprised the Chief Minister that the total length of these Model Roads would be approximately 115 kilometres. These roads will be developed as ideal roads of the state, incorporating beautification measures, modern amenities and enhanced road safety features. Officers further said that surveys of the eight selected roads by expert agencies are expected to be completed in July. Administrative approval for the Model Road projects is also likely to be granted by July, following which construction work will commence.

During the meeting, officers also briefed the Minister on the progress of the department’s work programme for the year 2026-27. They informed him that out of the proposed 1,633 roads, estimates for 1,042 roads have already been prepared and submitted, while the process for the remaining roads is being completed on a priority basis.

Sh. Ranbir Gangwa directed officers to expedite all road construction and repair works. He stressed that all necessary documentation and procedural formalities should be completed during the rainy season itself. He further asserted that no compromise whatsoever would be tolerated with regard to the quality of road construction.

Reviewing the performance of the “Mhari Sadak” mobile application, the Minister directed the officers to incorporate details of all roads that are yet to be included on the platform. This, he said, would enable citizens to submit road-related complaints through the application and facilitate their prompt resolution. Officers informed the Minister that the department is developing a system through which citizens will be able to access detailed information about roads by scanning QR codes installed at the respective locations. Sh. Ranbir Gangwa directed officers to expedite this initiative as well.

The Minister further directed officers to undertake regular reviews of all projects, ensure their time-bound implementation and maintain complete transparency in execution. He said that providing the people of Haryana with a better, safer and more durable road network remains a priority of the government.

During the meeting, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa also directed officers to accelerate works being undertaken by the department in collaboration with the Haryana Space Application Centre (HARSAC). He reviewed various other departmental projects as well. The Minister specifically directed officers to expedite the construction of the new road proposed to connect Talwandi Rana with Hisar and reviewed the current status of the project.

Additional Chief Secretary, PWD (B&R), Sh. A.K. Singh, Additional Secretary, PWD (B&R), Sh. Hitesh Kumar Meena, Engineer-in-Chief Sh. Anil Dahiya and other senior officers also remained present on this occasion.

Meeting of Haryana and Rajasthan Chief Ministers Held Under the Chairmanship of Union Jal Shakti Minister Sh. C.R. Patil

Chandigarh, June 23: A significant meeting was held at the New Delhi residence of Union Jal Shakti Minister Sh. C.R. Patil between Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and Rajasthan Chief Minister Sh. Bhajanlal Sharma. Various issues related to water resources, irrigation, and drinking water concerning both states were discussed in detail. Senior officials from both states also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the supply of Rajasthan’s share of water under the 1994 Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB) Agreement. It was decided that Rajasthan would be provided its allocated share of water through a pipeline in accordance with the agreement. An MoU in this regard will be signed on Monday.

Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini stated that Haryana respects Rajasthan’s right to receive water under the agreement and will ensure the supply of its allocated share. He said that better management of water resources can be achieved through coordination and cooperation among states, benefiting all regions.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Sh. Bhajanlal Sharma said Rajasthan is only seeking the quantity of water allocated to it under the agreement. He added that if the surplus water flowing in rivers during the monsoon season is effectively utilized and given to Rajasthan, it could provide a permanent solution to the drinking water crisis in a large part of the state.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini emphasized that the Renuka, Kishau and Lakhwar Dam Projects are extremely important for the states of North India and that efforts would be accelerated for their implementation. He said these projects would help meet future water requirements, enhance irrigation capacity, and strengthen drinking water availability. He further stated that coordination among the concerned states would be enhanced and necessary procedures completed expeditiously.

The Chief Minister also raised the issue of polluted water flowing into the Ghaggar River. He said separate treatment plants would be established for treating water entering the Ghaggar canal so that untreated wastewater does not flow into the river, thereby ensuring the cleanliness of water sources and environmental protection.

The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on water management, river conservation and various issues related to inter-state cooperation. Union Jal Shakti Minister Sh. C.R. Patil directed the concerned officials to take prompt action on the relevant matters and emphasized that better coordination among states is essential for the proper utilization and conservation of water resources.

Those present on the occasion included Haryana Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, senior officials of the Rajasthan Government, and officials of the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti.
