Chandigarh, 4 August: Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women continued its Induction Week 2026 with two enriching programmes that celebrated India’s cultural heritage while promoting responsible digital citizenship. Organised under the aegis of Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the events reflected the college’s commitment to the holistic development of students by combining artistic excellence with contemporary life skills.
In collaboration with SPIC MACAY and the SRF Foundation, the Department of Music organised Sh. Jatinder Kumar Memorial Hindustani Classical Music Sitar Recital under the SRF Classical Series. Renowned sitar maestro Prof. Birendra Nath Mishra, accompanied by Pandit Abhishek Mishra on tabla, mesmerised the audience with an evocative presentation of Hindustani classical music, introducing students to the depth, discipline and spiritual essence of India’s rich musical traditions.
The NSS units of the college organised an interactive session on ‘Cyber Safety and Social Media’, conducted by Mr. Rajesh Rana, National Cyber Security Expert and Founder of Stellar Data Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Addressing the students, he emphasised the responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), encouraging them to leverage emerging technologies for learning, research, creativity and innovation while avoiding excessive dependence on digital tools. Mr. Rana also sensitised students to the growing threats of cybercrime, identity theft and online fraud, urging them to protect their personal information, passwords, financial details and other sensitive data while exercising caution on social media platforms.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma highlighted the importance of preserving India’s cultural legacy and providing students with meaningful exposure to the challenges of the digital world as an integral part of value-based education. She reaffirmed the college’s unwavering commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience that harmoniously blends India’s cultural traditions with the knowledge and skills required to navigate the challenges of the digital age.
