Chandigarh, 18.08.26-: St. Joseph Senior Secondary School celebrated Independence Day with patriotic fervour, bringing together students and teachers in a celebration that reflected both pride in the nation and a sense of responsibility towards its future.
The celebrations began with the unfurling of the Tricolour by Principal Ms Monica Chawla, followed by the National Anthem, setting the tone for the day.
Centred around the vision of ‘A New India’ where every child learns, every citizen contributes, every woman walks with confidence and every young mind has the courage to innovate, the programme saw enthusiastic participation from students across all blocks, from Kindergarten to Senior Secondary. Through thoughtfully planned presentations across different floors and blocks of the school, they brought alive ideas of education, empowerment, inclusivity, innovation and responsible citizenship.
Each block gave its own expression to the larger theme, lending variety and meaning to the celebrations. Together, the presentations encouraged students to look beyond the celebration itself and reflect on their own role in shaping the India of tomorrow.
Adding warmth and energy to the occasion, the teachers presented a spirited patriotic group song that was warmly received by the audience. The involvement of both teachers and students turned the occasion into a shared expression of national pride and collective spirit.
Concluding the programme, Principal Ms Monica Chawla appreciated the efforts of the students, teachers and support staff who had worked together to make the celebration meaningful. In her address, she reminded the students that the true spirit of independence lies not only in celebrating the freedom inherited from the past, but also in recognising one’s responsibility towards the future.
The celebrations ended on a thoughtful note, leaving behind a simple yet significant message - a stronger and more progressive India will ultimately be built by young people who learn with purpose, think with courage and contribute with compassion.
