Chandigarh, 1 September: Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women organised a two-day event, “Pitch. Connect. Grow.- Startup Demo and Mentor Linkage Day”, to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among students and provide them with a platform to transform ideas into viable start-up ventures.
The event witnessed participation from 38 teams, which presented their innovative start-up concepts before a panel of experts and mentors. The first day featured presentations and demonstrations of business plans, with students showcasing ideas across diverse domains. Their presentations covered key aspects including problem identification, proposed solution, unique selling proposition, target audience, societal impact, SWOT analysis, implementation strategy and future growth potential. The presentations reflected the participants’ creativity, analytical thinking, teamwork and confidence. Students were also provided an opportunity to set up stalls to showcase their start-up ideas, prototypes and products, enabling them to interact with a wider audience and gain practical exposure to presenting their ventures.
The second day focused on mentorship and expert interaction. Alumna Ms Kajal Dubey, Entrepreneur, engaged with the participating teams and shared practical insights into converting innovative ideas into sustainable and market-oriented start-ups. She guided students on market research, scalability, branding, customer engagement, financial planning and implementation strategies. The interactive session also highlighted the significance of innovation, consistency, teamwork, problem-solving and professional networking in building successful ventures. The activity enabled students to refine their ideas, understand real-world entrepreneurial challenges and gain valuable exposure to the process of developing and pitching start-up concepts.
Officiating Principal Ms Neena Sharma appreciated the efforts of the organising committee, mentors, faculty members and students. She emphasised the importance of creating opportunities that nurture creativity, leadership, innovation and problem-solving skills among young learners. She encouraged students to translate their innovative ideas into socially relevant, sustainable and impactful start-up ventures.
