Chandigarh, September 15, 2026: As part of the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026, a series of nutrition, health and awareness activities were organised across Chandigarh, focusing on anaemia prevention, maternal and child health, nutrition and community participation.
A session on nutritious and protein-rich food was also conducted at Maloya Colony, along with an ORS preparation demonstration, slogan-writing competition on healthy food, awareness on the appropriate age of marriage, the importance of yoga for health and the importance of obtaining an Aadhaar card.
At Industrial Area, an Anaemia Screening Camp in convergence with Department of AYUSH and PMMVY Registration Camp were organised to facilitate health screening and enrolment of eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
At RC Dhanas-2, a Special PMMVY Enrolment Drive was organised for eligible pregnant women and lactating mothers. Alongside the enrolment drive, home visits were conducted for awareness on anaemia, counselling of parents of SAM children, immunisation, ORS preparation and registration of newly pregnant women.
Home visits were conducted to raise awareness about anaemia, counsel parents of SAM children, promote the importance of timely immunisation, and educate families on the correct preparation of ORS. Visits were also undertaken to identify and facilitate the registration of newly pregnant women under the schemes.
The activities aimed to strengthen awareness at the community level and promote healthy dietary practices, prevention of anaemia, maternal and child health, and access to government welfare schemes during Poshan Maah 2026.
