CHANDIGARH, 15.09.26-Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER and Thalassaemic Charitable Trust (TCT) in collaboration with Manavta Kalyan Sewa Society, Chandigarh organised a Blood Donation Camp on 13 Sept 2026 at Shri Sidh Baba Balak Nath Mandir, Sector 29 Chandigarh. It was the 341st Blood Donation Camp of the TCT.

The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by the Sh. Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Councillor Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. Smt Taruna Mehta Councillor, an Ex-Dy Mayor, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh blessed the voluntary blood donors. She encouraged people to come forward for this noble cause, emphasizing that regular blood donation is vital for the survival of thalassaemia and other serious patients requiring blood support. A dedicated thalassaemia awareness desk was set up to educate the visitors about the necessity of HPLC before marriage.

The first Blood Donation Camp arranged by Manavta Kalyan Sewa Society witnessed a positive response, with 49 volunteers donating blood. The organizers expressed gratitude to all donors and participants for their valuable contribution.

Sh. Rajinder Kalra-Member Secretary, Sh. AP Singh-Sr Vice President and Sh. Vikas Makkar of the Thalassaemic Charitable Trust actively participated in the organisation of the Blood Donation Camp. Prof. (Dr.) R.R. Sharma, Head, Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine, and Sh. Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all the voluntary blood donors. They also appreciated the dedicated efforts of the teams from Deptt. of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER Chandigarh and TCT team for ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of these camps.
