Chandigarh,16.10.19-As part of its student-diversity initiative 'Beyond Boundaries', Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women hosted students from Sambhota Tibetan School, Paonta Sahib. 28 students along with 3 mentors visited the campus to study the various academic avenues open to them for pursuing after their intermediate school. They were taken for a guided tour of the institution and were shown the Science Laboratory facilities, Language Lab, Interior Designing Studio, Sports Complex, Biogas Plant, Rishi Vatika, Botanical Garden, vermicomposting unit and Science museum. Thereafter, a comprehensive Power Point presentation was also given to apprise them about the courses, facilities and achievements of the institution. Visiting students and their mentors were impressed with the calm and serene environs of the college as they were introduced to the large number of plants with ethno botanical and medicinal properties. As the visiting team was given seed-balls made by the college's Botany Department, they appreciated the innovative, sustainable initiative which is a first of its kind among all academic institutions, to develop a green cover over dry wastelands. The Student Council of the college organized a Cultural Fiesta and the visitors were regaled with traditional dances and Orchestra performance by students of Music Department.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded the efforts of the organizing team and motivated the young visitors to contribute to the sustainability of the planet Earth and wished them success in all their endeavours.
