SJPNL starts trial to provide 24X7 water supply in Shimla Town

Secretary Urban Development Rajneesh informed here today that Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited has started a trial in Scandal Point and Middle Bazaar area for providing 24X7 water supply to the consumers. With this initiative about 500 connections would be provided with 12 hour water supply and equal amount of water would be provided to all consumers in the initial stage. He said that if the efforts would be successful then the period of water distribution would be increased to 24X7.

Secretary said the trial has been started in these areas as there is inadequate space for keeping water tanks and currently it is possible to provide proper supply of water through water distribution lines.

In the initial stage Gaindamal Hemraj shop, CTO mall road, Middle Bazaar, Lower Bazaar Tunnel, the upper area of Sunder Pansari Shop, certain parts of middle bazaar, Padamdev complex, Lakker Bazaar Bus stand and some areas of upper area of Rivoli road, P&T colony, Grand hotel and Kali bari areas would be covered under the trial.

He said that keeping in view the COVID-19 and taking advantage of lockdown the SJPNL has rectified 60 leaking points in the town which has increased about 35 lakh litre water distribution and reduced consumption of water and has reduced the expenditure of providing water.

Vocational Teachers Association and H.P. Govt. Teachers Union contribute Rs. 322111 towards HP SDMA COVID-19 SDRF

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was presented cheques of Rs. 2,11,111 and Rs. 1,11,000 by Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj on behalf of Vocational Teachers Association and Himachal Pradesh Government Teachers Union respectively towards ‘HP SDMA COVID-19 State Disaster Response Fund’ here today.

Chief Minister thanked the contributors for their noble gesture.

Bus services on 2222 routes resumed by HRTC

Transport Minister Govind Thakur said here today that on the directions of State Government Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has resumed bus services on 2222 routes from 7AM to 7PM in State. He said that the bus services were resumed after complete preparations. He said the safety of drivers and conductors were being ensured by providing them masks, face masks shield, sanitizer and gloves.

Minister said that the buses were sanitized before sending to bus stands and destinations. He said that and important guidelines were provided by police personnel to the passengers. The health screenings of the passengers were also done by health department. He said that buses on 1500 routes were operated by HRTC till 4 PM.

CM hails Union Cabinet decisions

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has hailed the decisions of Union Cabinet for approving major economic support measures for Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME), farmers, agricultural sector employees and street vendors.

The Chief Minister said that the road map prepared by the Union Cabinet for implementation of decisions for the MSME sector under Atmanirbhar Bharat package is laudable as this is bound to revive the economic activities, which suffered due to coronavirus, as 95 percent unit in Himachal Pradesh fall under this sector. He said that the Union Government in its decision allowed Rs. 50 thousand crore equity investment in MSMEs. He said that Union Cabinet has also approved modalities and road map for implementing to packages for MSMEs.

He said that the Union Cabinet also relaxed norms for loans to farmers under Kisan Credit Card scheme and farmers who will repay their loans timely till August 31st will get a four percent waiver on their loans which would prove beneficial to the farmers of the State.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the investment limit on plant and machinery has also been increased and has hiked paddy MSP by Rs. 53 per quintal thereby enhancing it to Rs. 1,868 per quintal for the 2020-21 crop year. He has also appreciated the decision for approving MSP for 14 Kharif crops.

These measures would benefit the workers and the industrialist a lot besides benefiting the farmers, he added.
