About Magic Bus:

Magic Bus India Foundation, a sector leader with 13 years of experience in operating India’s largest sports for development program that stands to address key social development issues through sports.Magic Bus enables some of the world's poorest families to move out of poverty. Through the use of a mentoring model and a sport-based curriculum, it engages children and ensures that they make the right choices so that they have a constructive journey from childhood all the way through towards better and dignified livelihoods as adults. The organization’s philosophy revolves around the concept of mentoring. Young people from the communities in which we intervene, volunteer to work with Magic Bus. They are trained over an extended period of time to emerge as able Community Youth Leaders. They function then as Mentors for children in the community, with whom they conduct weekly sessions based on a well-researched, activity-based curriculum that Magic Bus has developed. As Mentors they become enablers of learning not only during sessions, but also role models for children across the community As a result, children emerge as adults who have more control and choice in their lives, and who contribute confidently and constructively to a better society. The young people who Mentor them move into respectable livelihoods, continuing to function as role models in their communities.

The Magic Bus intervention is currently active in 16 states across India reaching over 250,000 children and 8,000 youth across India. Magic Bus aspires to moving a million children out of the cycle of poverty and into a cycle of confidence, learning and employment. At the end of a child’s journey with the organisation s/he will emerge a more balanced, confident, and open individual, respectful of others, able to deal constructively with difference, healthy, educated, employed and above all, contributing both in thought and deeds to the development of a better society.
