New Delhi,16.10.14:Mauritius has won the” Best Outbound Tourism Board in India’  at International Tourism Conclave & Travel Awards in Shimla on September 27 2014. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh  Shri Virbhadra Singh Ji handed over the award to Mr Anuj Singhal, Manager-Trade Sales, Mauritius Tourism

This B2B-Travel & Tourism Exchange ITCTA was supported by Himachal Pradesh Tourism as Host State,  East Bourne Resort & Spa, Shimla as Host Venue and other hotels of Shimla. Leading Travel Trade Associations i.e Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Travel Agent Association of India (TAAI), Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India (ADTOI), Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA), Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), IATA Agents Association of India (IAAI) and Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI), India Travel Mart, Travel Mail and Breaking Tourism News supported this mega event.\

 

Mauritius is a tropical lush green island and has a colorful landscape throughout the year. There isn’t much differences in the weather conditions during the year and there are no well-defined rainy/wet and dry seasons. The island has become famous in the Indian market as the most preferred Wedding, Honeymoon, MICE, Family, Golf, Adventure and Luxury destination.

 

As part of the marketing initiatives, MTPA (India) has actively taken part in Travel Fairs like MTM, IITM 2014, Wedding Fairs at Indore and Ahmadabad, MICE Fairs like MICE India and Luxury Travel Congress - Mumbai. MTPA has successfully conducted Trade Presentations in all major cities in India to increase the visibility of Mauritius to the travel trade partners and are regularly updating them with relevant information through e-mailers and facebook updates. MTPA in the recently conducted 4 city Roadshows, a B2B event with participation by almost 25 stakeholders from Mauritius including Hotels, DMCs and Activity companies, got overwhelming response from the Travel Trade fraternity. MTPA India has already arranged Familiarization trips for Wedding Planners from India to Mauritius and a Media Familiarisation trip for the top Indian media personnel to give them first-hand experience of the destination. Further, they have plans to arrange familiarisation trips for the Travel Agents to enable them to sell our product with emphasis and ease. Apart from the aforementioned initiatives, MTPA India also has plans to sponsor Golf & Polo Tournaments and Food festivals to position Mauritius as a Golf destination and promote the unique gastronomical offerings of the island.   MTPA had also been one of the sponsors at the Geo Spa Asia Spa Awards in May 2014. For 2014, more than 60, 000 Indian tourists are expected to visit the island.

Mauritius has also bagged the Best All-Season International Destination for TODAY’S TRAVELLER AWARD 2014 last month.
