New Delhi,17.03.15-The Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), Culture (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation, Dr Mahesh Sharma met the Madhya Pradesh Energy, Mining and Public Relations Minister, Sh Rajinder Shukla in New Delhi today.


Shri Rajinder Shukla requested Dr Mahesh Sharma to give priority to the Rs 49 cr Vindhya Mega Destination Project of Madhya Pradesh to help speed up development of tourist circuits and the development of historic Chirahula temple and the pond at Rewa.

Mr Shukla also requested that the proposal for an amount of Rs 3.5 cr sent to the Ministry of Tourism in this regard may be sanctioned to begin with.

Dr Mahesh Sharma assured him that the proposal would be looked into and all assistance will be extended by the Ministry in this regard.

Mr Shukla also briefed the Tourism and Culture Minister about other projects being taken up by the MP government to promote tourism.

Union Tourism Ministry will meet all possible requirements to facilitate Nabakalebar Rath Yatra, 2015: Dr Mahesh Sharma

NEW DELHI,17.03.15-The Union Ministry of Tourism is trying to fulfil all requirements to facilitate Nabakalebar Rath Yatra, 2015 and fully promote the event including meeting the demand of Rs 52cr for development of tourist infrastructure in Puri and other places connected with the Yatra.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), Culture (Independent Charge) and Civil Aviation, Dr. Mahesh Sharma in reply to a starred question in Lok Sabha today.

Replying to a supplementary, Dr Mahesh Sharma said that he would be visiting Odisha on 20th and 21st March to assess the infrastructure requirements. The Minister said that the holy city of Puri is included in the new scheme of the Ministry ‘PRASAD’ in which 12 religious and holy cities have been included for development.

Similarly, in the scheme of theme based tourist circuits ‘Swadesh Darshan’, the coastal circuit will benefit the coast of Orissa. The Budget for 2015-16 has made a special provision for developing Budhist circuits and the sites located in Odisha can also be included in the same, the Minister explained in reply to a supplementary.
