          Today is ‘World Post Day’. In India ‘World Post Day’ is being celebrated as part of National Postal Week” which is from 9th October to 15thOctober . During this  Week, Chandigarh Postal Division will carry out various activities to mark the celebrations.

 

9th Oct 2014:- ‘World Post Day’ :- On this occasion school children of different schools visited  GPO, Chandigarh . This day is also dedicated to students as “Student Interaction  Day”.

 

An Exhibition Van is being plied by Chandigarh Division for providing information in connection with philately. This van will move to many places in Chandigarh & Mohali and cover the schools & educational institutions. The main purpose of this exhibition is to popularize philately among the students.

 

Ms Radhika Dhir, Sr. Supdt of Post Offices , Chandigarh flagged off the Van from GPO , Sector-17, Chandigarh. On this occasion,  she  said that philately  provides knowledge of history,  geography, science, animals, plants,  civilization etc through Stamps.  Philately is also known as   “King of Hobbies”. Each year thousands of new stamps are issued around the world.

 

She informed about “My Stamp service” by which any person or institution  can get his/her own stamp.   She also informed that there are 5274 members in Philatelic Bureau, Chandigarh. She expressed hope  that public will respond positively through this exhibition and understand   the value of Philately.

 

10th Oct :-  ‘Savings Bank Day’ :- Special counters will be opened on this day to make public aware of new schemes introduced by DOP. Emphasis will be given to cover all  account holders under Pradhan Mantri Jeewan Jyoti Bima Yojana,  Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and opening of Sukanya Samridhi Accounts . 

 

12th Oct : On ‘Mail  day’ school children have been invited for  letter writing  and address writing to familarise and revive the interest among school children. Postal stationery will be distributed amongst school children to promote the hobby of letter writing .

 

13th Oct :- ‘Philately  Day’ :- Main focus will be on providing information relating to philately to the students.  During this week Chandigarh Division will also focus on “My Stamp” service, by which anybody can make his/her own stamp and institutions can also make stamp of their building or logo.

 

 14th Oct :-  ‘Postal Life Insurance (PLI) Day’ :- For developing PLI and Rural PLI, Workshop/Fair will be organized on the day at  Ghanauli  and Landran Post office (Ropar ).  

 

15th Oct :- ‘Business Development Day’ :- A customer meet will be organized in National Sorting Hub, Sector-17, Chandigarh . The meeting  will highlight the achievements of  the Department, issues of customers, ideas for improvement and acknowledgement of patronage of customers.
