Chandigarh, January 10, 2018-An “ All India Quiz Competition”  on Water Resources is being organized by Central Water Commission (CWC) in India at 13 Regions for the School students studying in class 6th to 8th standard. The Objective is to generate awareness and propagate message amongst young children regarding urgent need to “Conserve Water” a precious natural resource.

Indus Basin Organisation, CWC Chandigarh organised preliminary round of the competition for  Chandigarh region Schools  today  at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School, Sector 26, Chandigarh. About 48 students from 24 schools of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh (UT), J&K, Himachal  Pradesh and Rajasthan State participated in the event. 

Speaking on this occasion, Sh. Atul Jain, Chief Engineer, Indus Basin Organization urged the participating students to be well aware and proactive on the issues of water conservation and water pollution. publicity material and  Literature on water conservation was given to participating students to enhance  their awareness. A small display of equipments, posters etc related to water resources was also arranged by the organizers which was very much appreciated by the students.

Col. J. S. Bala  Secretary, Sikh Education Society (SES )speaking on this occasion also stressed on the need to conserve water for future generation.    

 The initial round comprising a written as well as oral quiz on water resources was won jointly by Kundan Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, Punjab represented by  Master Shivam Gupta of class 7th and Master Shiven Vasan of class 8thand Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh School represented by  Master Akshat Mishra of class 8th and Master Anmol of class 8th. Both the teams would now participate in the final round to be held in February, 2018 at Delhi. In the final round two teams from each region (total 13 regions) representing all states and UT’s of India shall compete to win attractive cash prizes.
