Chandigarh,06.08.18-The first ever Chandigarh Golf Club Powerdrive Open Challenge was conducted at the club on 5th August, Sunday. This Long Drive Championship is very common worldwide but it was the first time that this concept was played at Chandigarh Golf Club all thanks to the support and ideology of club President Birinder Singh Gill who initiated this championship for the first time. This long drive Championship was open to Members and Non-Members of the club, Children, Gentlemen, Ladies, Amateurs as well as Professional Golfers. From children as young as 6 years old to Gentlemen and Ladies above 80 years of age were all seen swing their clubs at the maximum speed at which they can wanting to blast the ball and win the top honours in their respective categories.

In the Children’s Boys upto 7 years category Danish Verma and Maurya Bedi both got a prize since they both drove the ball an astonishing 150 yards. In the Girls category Ojaswini (73 yards) and Rabhhya Handa (59 yards) finished winner and runners-up respectively.

In the below 9 years category Rann Vijay Singh (156 yards) took the pole position and Harjay Milkha Singh finished runners-up with a commendable 151 yards off the tee. In the Girls category Mahika Garg (160 yards) and Yogita Modi (142 yards) finished winner and runners-up respectively.

The below 11 years category saw Manveer Singh Triumph with a long drive of 181 yards and Dhruv Singh came second with a distance of 133 yards. Charvi Vaid was the winner in the Girls category with 152 yards.

The below 13 years category had the well known Vasu Sehgal winning by blasting the ball an amazing 251 yards whereas Harsimran Sangha finished just closely behind at 249 yards. Jiya Kataria was the winner in the Girls category

Yuvrah Hara won the below 15 years category with a long drive of 282 yards leaving Paramraj Sandhu at the runner-up position with 274 yards.

The below 18 years category had Karan winning the contest with 249 yards and Gursahib Sandhu runners-up with 244 yards. In the Girls category Himanshika Sehgal (240 yards) and Riya Dhiman (155 yards) finished winner and runners-up respectively.

In the Ladies above 18 years category Parnita Garewal won with a long drive of 210 yards and Hasan Dhanoa came second with 208 yards.

In the Ladies above 40 years category Shona A Singh stood first with 211 yards and Ashu B Singh came second with 157 yards.

Mrs, Neelam Gill won the above 60 years Ladies category hitting 186 yards.

Mrs. Nirmal Milkha Singh won the above 80 years Ladies category hitting 163 yards.

The Gentlemen above 18 years category saw Adilbir Singh hitting the longest 274 yards while Mantegveer Singh finished runners-up (267 yards).

In the Above 40 years Gentlemen’s category Jaspreet Bhaika won by hitting the longest 274 yards leaving HS Kang at the runners-up position (260) yards.

In the above 60 years Gentlemen’s category Brig PPS Dhillon hit the longest 240 yards leaving Col. SDS Bath at the runners-up position.

Col. Mohan Singh won the Gentlemen’s above 75 years category with 210 yards and Gen SPS Vains came second by hitting 195 yards.

The Gentlemen’s above 80 years category has Col. Gurki Sidhu as the winner (199 yards) and Col. GS Gill as the runners-up (184 yards).

Rohan Kathuria won the Professional’s category with 303 yards and Ikrabdeep Singh Ghai finished runners-up.

Atul won the Caddies category.
