SHIMLa,30.05.19-Naldehra a stunning hill spur that overlooks a dense forests of cedars and deodars is located at distance of 22 km away from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh State. Situated 2,044 metres above sea level, it is known for its best and oldest nine hole golf course in the country.

A heaven for tourist, Naldehra has derived its name from the two words, Nag and Dehra, meaning the Abode of the King of Snakes. The beauty of Naldehra is added by the meandering of the enthralling River Sutlej. On a clear day, one can view the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. Naldehra hillstation offers long leisurely walks amidst the pines and deodars.
Historical facts state that this hill station was discovered by Lord Curzon, a Viceroy of the erstwhile British Raj. Impressed by it's beautiful natural surroundings, he decided to make a golf course in this hill station. He also gave his daughter Alexendra Naldehra as her second name.
Set amidst pine trees at 6,706 ft, Naldehra Golf Course is on the Hindustan-Tibet Road. Initially a 9 Hole Course, it was expanded to 18 holes. Maintained and run by Himachal Tourism, it is well groomed golf course and perhaps one of the finest in India. This course is the venue for many competitions every year. It is now maintained and run by Tourism Department of Himachal Pradesh. The best season for golfing in Naldehra is from April to October and July, August and September.
Besides being known for its golf course, Naldehra has attracts tourists for its fairs and sightseeing places. One of the most famous fairs of the destination is Sipi Fair, held every year during the month of June. Also, the annual Jotton Ka Mela (bull fight fest) in October is also held.
The best time to visit Naldehra is during the summer season, which extends from the month of March to the month of June.

Sight Seeing
Naldehra is dotted with several attractions which include temples, lakes, hot water springs, scenic beauty and golf course. Mahunag Temple is one of the most prominent attractions, from which the place has derived its name. The temple is located inside the majestic Golf Course. This temple is dedicated to Nag, the Serpent God.
Near this temple, are other temples such as the Mamaleshwar Temple, Kamaksha Devi Temple, Churag, Tattapani, Shikari Devi Temple and Sundernagar. Tattapani is famous for its hot water springs, which contains Sulphur.
In addition, tourists can also explore a small village nearby, Chabba a spectacular greenish scenic very popular for its landscapes along with places like Shaily Peak and Mahakali Lake. These places give an opportunity for horse riding through rocky trails and also for nature walks.
The Fagu Village, is 22 km from Naldehra. It is popular for landscapes and views of the ranges and picturesque valleys around. Set amongst the forests and orchards, it is a base for seeing the nearby countryside.
The hillstation of Kufri is 16 km from Naldehra and is a popular summer resort famous for skiing. Known as the winter sports capital of Himachal Pradesh, Kufri is known for the oldest ski slopes in the state.
Mashobra Valley is located at a distance 11 km from Naldehra and is a popular summer retreat surrounded by evergreen pine and deodar forests.
