CHANDIGARH, 04.09.24-The Placement Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised a mentoring session titled ‘Beyond Words: Designing a Resume that Speaks Volumes’. The session aimed to impart resume writing skills to the students so as to empower them to prepare strategically targeted resume. The session was a part of the Placement Cell’s employability enhancement programme. Mr. Ankur Grover, Senior Faculty, HitBullsEye Chandigarh, was the speaker for the session. In an insightful session, the speaker explained various segments of a resume, and the differences between a CV and a resume. Mr. Grover shed light on various contents of a resume like individuals’ particulars, vision, objectives, details of academics, extra curricular achievements, college assignments, internships, hobbies and so on. He spelled out the importance of being decisive and clear about the contents of resume as it is an effective tool for conveying the applicant’s suitability for the specified job. The speaker emphasised on framing the resume specific to the needs of different organisations and cautioned against following the rule of one resume fits all. The session was well received by a total of 93 students who learnt the do’s and dont’s of resume writing. The queries of the participants were answered by the speaker towards the end of the session.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava applauded the Placement Cell for its endeavours aimed at bridging the gap between the industry and the academia. She added that such sessions are imperative for the enhancing the employability quotient of the college students.
