CHANDIGARH,14.10.24-The Department of Botany at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Jai Madhusudan Jai Srikrishna Foundation and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Chandigarh Division) marked the celebration of Wildlife Week with ‘Paryavaran Manthan’- an Inter-College environmental deliberation event.
The chief guest for the event was Mr. Jitendra Kumar, Executive Director and State Head of Punjab, Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The other distinguished guests included Mr. Baljit Singh Sandhu (Retired IPS and former DGP, Haryana), Mr. S.M. Tumanne (GM, Retail Sales, Punjab State Office, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.), Mr. Rajeev Kumar (Division Retail Sales Head, Chandigarh Divisional Office, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.) and Sh. Vishal Kalia (Principal, CIHM, Sector 42-D, Chandigarh). Prabhunath Shahi, the founder of the Foundation, introduced the event to the audience and urged everyone to contribute in environmental conservation.
Students from higher educational institutions across the tricity participated in the event and expressed their views on the burning environmental issues. Over 200 saplings of plants of medicinal and ornamental value were distributed on this occasion.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava motivated everyone to work actively for the noble cause of conservation of the environment. She reminded the stakeholders of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations for a sustainable future and urged them to work towards the achievement of those goals.
