CHANDIGARH, 18.11.24-The 7th Annual Conference of the Autoimmune Subsection of Indian Academy of Neurology: Indian Committee of Research and Treatment in Multiple Sclerosis (ICTRIMS 2024) took place in Chandigarh, under the aegis of PGI Neurological Society. Scheduled to unfold at the Novotel, Chandigarh, from November 14th to 16th, 2024. This conference was a comprehensive exploration of the demyelinating disorders in neurology. ICTRIMS 2024 brought together a diverse range of topics, catering to the interests of both emerging and seasoned physicians.
The educational program encompassed workshops, symposia and tough calls in autoimmunity, invited plenary lectures, sessions, and scientific paper presentations. Renowned speakers, including accomplished professionals from India and around the world shared their insights during the event on the newest innovations in MS. Dr Kazuo Fujihara, Dr Letizia Leocani, Dr Giancarlo Comi & Dr Xavier Montalban, President of The ‘European Charcot Foundation’ shed light on the latest diagnostic criteria for MS in a special symposium based on the theme for ICTRIMS 2024 – “Optimising Patient Outcomes in MS”. Dr Gurkeerat Kaur, who completed her PhD from PGIMER Chandigarh won the prestigious ECF- Young Investigator Award, offering a membership to the fellowship community and invitation to their annual meeting. The conference served as an excellent platform for physicians and neurologists to update their knowledge, foster networking opportunities, and engage in discussions about the evolving landscape of MS and its spectrum. The collaborative environment contributed to fostering the exchange of ideas and experiences among professionals from diverse backgrounds and geographical locations.
The prestigious ICTRIMS 2024 conference witnessed the esteemed presence of Major DP Singh, as chief guest for the inauguration on November 15th. Major D.P. Singh is a retired officer of the Indian Army. He is a Kargil War veteran and is known as India's first blade runner. After his amputation, he gradually started running using a prosthetic limb and has run in 26 half-marathons in his running career. He motivated the audience with his highly inspired journey of life. The conference also witnessed the presence of Prof Vivek Lal, Director & Head, PGIMER, Chandigarh as Chief of Honour for the evening. Winners of the conference were felicitated by the guests in the inaugural ceremony. For 14th November Oral Posters Presentation, Dr Anuja Patil bagged the first prize with Dr Immia Bukhari as the runner up. For Posters Presentation, Dr Deepali Sharma Chiddwar won the first prize with Dr Reshma Sultana as the runner up. For 15th November Oral Posters Presentation, Dr Rajan Chellappa bagged the first prize with Dr Priya Tressa Thomas as the runner up. For Posters Presentation, Dr Mitosha de Carvalho won the first prize with Dr Shivam Mirg as the runner up.
The dedicated organizing committee, led by Prof Vivek Lal as the Organizing Chairman and Director of the Department of Neurology at PGIMER, included key individuals such as Dr Dheeraj Khurana (Organizing Secretary), Dr Sucharita Ray (Joint Organising Secretary), Dr Kamalesh Chakravarthy (Treasurer & Associate Professor of Neurology), Prof Parampreet Kharbanda, and Prof. Manish Modi (Scientific Committee). Their collective efforts made ICTRIMS 2024 a memorable and impactful event for all attendees.
