CHANDIGARH, 11.-01.25-The Department of Dietetics at PGIMER, Chandigarh, celebrated Dietetics Day today by organizing an insightful workshop focusing on "Dietary Lifestyle Management Strategies." This year’s theme highlighted the pivotal role of dietitians in empowering individuals and communities to make informed food choices, fostering better health outcomes.

The event was graced by Dr. R.K. Ratho, Dean (Academics), PGIMER, as the Chief Guest, and Professor Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, as the Guest of Honor. Both dignitaries lauded the efforts of the Dietetics Department in advancing public health through diet-focused initiatives and reiterated the importance of diet in managing lifestyle diseases.

The workshop commenced with an engaging session titled "Rethink What You Eat" led by Dr. Nancy Sahni, Chief Dietician and Head of the Department of Dietetics, PGIMER. Dr. Sahni provided valuable insights into effective nutrition assessment techniques and shared practical home hacks for evaluating nutritional status. She emphasized the importance of small but significant dietary changes in achieving long-term health benefits.

In addition, participants had the opportunity to undergo body composition analysis using state-of-the-art technology at a dedicated counter. This service was made available not only to workshop attendees but also to PGIMER employees, promoting awareness about personal health and fitness.

One of the key highlights of the workshop was a panel discussion featuring renowned doctors and dieticians who addressed various lifestyle diseases and their dietary solutions. The interactive session encouraged participants to ask questions, enabling a dynamic exchange of ideas and practical knowledge.
