CHANDIGARH, 14.01.25-The Department of Public Administration at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, hosted an online session titled ‘Preparation for Punjab Civil Services’. The session was conducted by Ms. Gursimranjeet Kaur (PCS), an alumna of the college, who shared valuable insights and practical strategies for cracking the Punjab Civil Services (PCS) examination.

In the opening address, Dr. Gurvinder Kaur, Head, Department of Public Administration, highlighted the significance of such initiatives in empowering students aspiring for public service careers. Ms. Gursimranjeet’s session was a comprehensive guide to the PCS examination, covering its notification, pattern, syllabus, and effective preparation strategies. She emphasised the importance of time management, consistency, and focus on key areas such as General Studies Papers I-IV, Punjab-specific topics, and current affairs. Participants were guided on dividing their preparation into distinct phases: understanding the syllabus, practicing through tests, analysing performance and revising systematically. The interactive session allowed participants to actively seek clarity on various aspects of preparation. Ms. Gursimranjeet addressed queries on study materials, and strategy. She also stressed the importance of self-discipline, meticulous planning, and maintaining a consistent routine. Participants were encouraged to remain calm, avoid distractions, and adopt personalised strategies instead of relying solely on others’ methods. Maintaining a balanced lifestyle, with time for relaxation was advised to ensure mental clarity and sustained motivation.Around 75 participants attended and benefited from the online session.

Ms. Suman Mahajan expressed gratitude to Ms.Gursimranjeet for her insightful guidance. She added that such sessions by experts in their particular fields provides the students with insights that help in furthering the college’s mission of providing holistic education.
