Chandigarh, January 18 — Haryana School Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda, said that when every child in India practices yoga, the country will become the most powerful nation, both domestically and globally. He emphasized the importance of spreading this message to the masses. He said this statement while inaugurating the state-level Surya Namaskar Abhiyan 2025 at the Arya Public School auditorium in Panipat.
The Minister Sh. Mahipal Dhanda further said that by 2047, India will become a developed nation, with yoga playing a key role in this transformation. He credited Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for successfully bringing yoga to the global stage. “We must embrace yoga in our thoughts, words, and actions. Good thoughts lead to the welfare of the world, and yoga is the path to global well-being,” he said. Hundreds of children participated in the Surya Namaskar demonstration during the program.
The Minister also emphasized that anyone who practices yoga regularly can overcome any challenge in life. “To improve our lives, we must incorporate yoga into our daily routines. A healthy body is the first source of happiness, and yoga is the key to curing diseases,” he added.
He said that today, yoga is being promoted in every village. He encouraged everyone to practice yoga, particularly Surya Namaskar, and to dedicate at least 20 to 25 minutes daily. Yoga has now been incorporated into the educational curriculum, and its positive effects will be visible in the future.
Dr. Jaideep Arya, Chairman, Haryana Yoga Commission, stated that yoga is an intrinsic and philosophical element of India’s culture. He credited Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and Baba Ramdev for their relentless efforts to promote yoga worldwide. Surya Namaskar is now being practiced in both government and private schools across the state. The Secondary School and NCERT have issued directives to all schools to make the initiative a success.
Dr. Arya also mentioned that the 30-day Surya Namaskar campaign is dedicated to three prominent figures. The campaign began on Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, which is celebrated as National Youth Day. Haryana Governor Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya will join the campaign on January 23. On February 12, the birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and the Health Minister will also participate in the programme.
Dr. Arya said that over 50 lakh people are expected to take part in this initiative, which aims to set a world record. The Haryana Government has officially made yoga a mandatory part of the school curriculum.
Present at the event include Dr. Roshan Lal, Vice Chairman, Haryana Yoga Commission, and Sunil Bajaj, Joint Director of SCERT, among other distinguished guests.

*Harvinder Kalyan Appointed as Member of AIPOC Standing Committee*
Chandigarh, January 18 – Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker, Mr. Harvinder Kalyan, has been nominated as a member of the Standing Committee of All India Presiding Officers' Conference (AIPOC), the highest body of presiding officers in the country. The committee, chaired ex-officio by Lok Sabha Speaker Mr. Om Birla, includes Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Mr. Harivansh Narayan Singh as Vice-Chairman and a Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha as an ex-officio member. Additionally, seven legislative assembly speakers from various states are also part of the committee. The committee's secretary is Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh.
Mr. Kalyan’s appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Sikkim Legislative Assembly Speaker, Mr. Arun Kumar Upreti. He has been nominated to the committee starting January 17, 2024, as per a notification from the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
Notably, Mr. Kalyan, who assumed office as Haryana Legislative Assembly Speaker on October 25, 2024, has been appointed to this prestigious committee within just three months of assuming office. He expressed his gratitude to Lok Sabha Speaker Mr. Om Birla for the opportunity and pledged to fulfill the responsibilities expected of him as a member of the Standing Committee.
The Standing Committee is responsible for setting the dates, venue, and agenda for the annual conference of Presiding Officers. It also oversees the implementation of resolutions passed by AIPOC and addresses national and international constitutional and parliamentary matters.

*Vidhan Sabha Speaker to take a holy dip in the Sangam at Kumbh; invites MLAs to Join*
Chandigarh, January 18 – Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Harvinder Kalyan, will take a holy dip in the Sangam at Kumbh City Prayagraj on February 7. He has also extended an invitation to all the MLAs of the State to join him for this sacred occasion.
In a letter addressed to all MLAs, Sh. Kalyan mentioned that those interested in participating in the Kumbh should send their confirmation to the Haryana Legislative Assembly Secretariat by January 20. The travel expenses for the trip will be borne by the MLAs themselves.
The Haryana Legislative Assembly Secretariat will assist in making necessary arrangements for the MLAs in Prayagraj. Sh. Kalyan said that from a spiritual perspective, Kumbh is one of the most significant festivals of Indian culture, drawing millions of devotees to the Maha Kumbh for the holy bath.

Chandigarh, January 18 – Haryana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Fisheries, and Animal Husbandry Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that sports are as important for children as education. Sports contribute to both physical and mental development. He urged that children be educated and protected from bad habits and addiction.
Sh. Rana was addressing the gathering during his thanksgiving tour of villages Radaur Assembly Constituency, including Isharpur, Mandoli, Kamalpur, Akalgarh, Tigri, Karera Khurd, and Jathlana, where he expressed his gratitude to the residents for their continued support.
Sh. Rana encouraged the village sarpanches to prioritize the construction of stadiums and libraries. He stated that if children engage in sports and study diligently, they can secure good jobs without the need for excessive spending or connections. He assured that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, Haryana will continue its progress, working inclusively for the betterment of all communities. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to development in all constituencies, ensuring no discrimination. Development work will continue to be a priority, and any incomplete projects will be expedited to benefit the public.
The Cabinet Minister further stated that the state government is implementing schemes for the welfare of all sections of society, with special focus on women's empowerment. He urged everyone to live in harmony and unity. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the constituency’s residents for electing him as their representative and assured them that he would meet their expectations and deliver on development. His goal is to address their issues and complete as much development work as possible.
During the visit, he addressed the concerns of the villagers and promised to address them promptly. Issues raised included the construction of community halls (Baraat Ghars) in Kamalpur and Akalgarh, improvements in rainwater drainage, the stoppage of local trains at the Kalanaur railway station, the construction of a boundary wall for Ambedkar Bhawan, pond cleaning and beautification, the establishment of a veterinary hospital, and the construction of a shed at the cremation ground. Residents of Kamalpur expressed gratitude for the embankment built to protect the area from floods.
The Minister reassured the public that the government has ample resources for development projects. He cited the development work in Sandhala village as an example and encouraged others to follow its model.

On Friday evening, Dr. Arvind Sharma welcomed a 40-member delegation from the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) in Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, to his office here. The delegation, which is part of the fifth phase of the Yuva Sangam initiative, is visiting Haryana Central University, Pali (Mahendragarh) for a week-long cultural and educational exchange.
While addressing the youth, Dr. Sharma said that the Yuva Sangam initiative is aligned with Prime Minister Sh. Modi’s vision to promote national unity and enhance social harmony. The program facilitates the exchange of students from one university to another across different states, where they immerse themselves in the local culture, geography, and heritage. During their visit, the delegation had meaningful discussions with Dr. Sharma on various topics related to culture, heritage, and development.
Dr. Sharma also stated that the Yuva Sangam initiative is an integral part of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Abhiyan launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
