Chandigarh, January 24:India has been unified since the times immemorial, hence the 'Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat' initiative of the Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi is carrying forward this great legacy thus helping to further cement the bonds of unity between various cultures.

India is a very diverse Nation in terms of varied costumes, eating habits, festivals and languages (numbering nearly 19000) yet the country stays united and that is the beauty of the country, divulged the Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria here at Punjab Raj Bhavan during his address on the occasion of celebrating foundation day of the States of Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, and UTs Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu.

The Governor further stated that every State is unique in some aspects and that calls for more cultural exchanges between different States as people must know about traditions of other States.

Praising the performance of the folk dances of the above mentioned States presented by the children, the Governor said that in future more such occasions should be held and on a grand scale.

Among others present on the occasion included the ACS to Punjab Governor - K. Siva Prasad, Chief Secretary Chandigarh Rajiv Verma, Secretary Culture Mr. Hari Kallikkat, and Special Secretary to the Governor - Mr. Abhijit Vijay Chaudhary.
