MAHENDERGARH, 06.02.25-A Two Day National Seminar on 'We the People @75, Navigating Social Justice and Global Peace' was successfully commenced on February 6, in Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh by department of political science in collaboration with department of law sponsored by Indian council of world affairs (ICWA). Dr. Manish from Central University Gujrat as keynote speaker and Dr. Arnab Chakraborty from ICWA as the chief guest enhanced the pride of the event. Professor Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of CUH presided over the inaugural session. Prof. Tankeshwar, in his presidential address told the importance of two important concepts I.e. Peace and Justice and how they are significant for the larger humanity. He put emphasis on the identification and redressal of the causes and factors the pose a serious threat to social justice and global peace. Prof. highlighted the role of India and Indian citizens to make the earth a better place to live for humanity by taking inspiration from its glorious ancient past.
The event began with a traditional and auspicious start as the lamp was lit, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by the rendition of the University Kulgeet, which filled the atmosphere with a sense of pride and unity among the attendees. Professor Rajeev Kumar Singh, Head, Department of Political Science, first of all briefed about the seminar and formally welcomed all the dignitaries present at the event. He also emphasized over the Indian philosophical tradition and its impact on the Indian constitution which talks about the peaceful resolution of disputes at international level under its Directive principles. Professor also talked about the need for a fair evaluation that to what extent India has achieved its ideals and what are the ares where a lot of work is still required to be done.
Professor Payal Chandel, Dean, School of humanities and social sciences, thereafter took the stage for the inaugural address and shared her insights with the students. She also told about the true meaning of “we the people” that represents the notion of popular sovereignty. she highlighted the way India is working on the principle of inclusive growth. She said although there are a lot of challenges both at the national and international level but that can be tackled with a spirit of unity and collective responsibility.
Dr. Arnab Chakraborty then took the stage and shared his understanding with the students in regards to the evolution of Indian foreign policy since 1947 and how India maintained its strategic autonomy from the very beginning. He also emphasized over the importance of India in the redressal of upcoming world problems like climate change and energy crisis. He told the students that India today is definitely rising as a soft power globally and asserting its interests more profoundly at the world level.
The Keynote Speaker of the day, Professor Manish take on thereafter and very succinctly highlighted the importance of “Amrit kaal” for India. He said India is one of the fastest growing economy of the world will indeed become a developed country till its 100th year of independence. He said the ideological foundation of the Indian foreign policy lies in its rich ancient past. Our foreign policy does take inspiration from the ideals of our scriptures like vedas, Ramayana and Mahabharata that talks about the peace at global level. India does believe in the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” i.e. world is a family and is definitely working in the direction of becoming Vishal guru I.e. becoming the torchbearer for the world in the days to come.
Concluding the inaugural session, Dr. Ramesh kumar, Professor Department of Political Science delivered the vote of thanks. While highlighting the significance of such kind of seminars as the learning platforms for students, he thanked all the dignitaries, faculty and students to make the event a success
The inaugural session was followed by a plenary session, chaired by prof. Payal Chandel. Professor Satish kumar from IGNOU, NEW DELHI, Dr. Amit Singh from JNU, new delhi; Dr. Naresh Sonkar from IGNTU, Amarkantak; Dr. Ziyauddin from DAV PG College, Varanasi; prof. Mohammad Aftab Alam from AMU, Aligarh, Dr. Anil Kumar from IGNTU Amarkantak, Dr. Shreya Pandey from Xavier College, Ranchi were key speakers.
