MAHENDERGARH,20.02.25-Dr. Ashwani Kumar, Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition Biology, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh was conferred with a Special Appreciation Award at the conference titled “Frontiers in Nutrition: Challenges and Opportunities for Healthier Tomorrow,” held at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 15th February, 2025. The award was presented in recognition of his exceptional research findings related to the “probiotic pearl millet-based rabadi beverage” that he presented during the conference.

Prof. (Dr.) Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor CUH, congratulated Dr. Ashwani Kumar for this remarkable achievement and encouraged the SHRI millet project researchers to continue their work with the same dedication. Prof. Suneel Kumar (Registrar), Prof. Dinesh Kumar Gupta (Dean, SIAS), Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma (Dean Research and Director R&D Cell), and Prof. Kanti Prakash Sharma (Head, Department of Nutrition Biology) also congratulated and praised the efforts of the investigators for advancing much-needed research on millets for sustainable livelihoods.

Dr. Kumar has been working extensively to explore the structural, functional, and nutritional aspects of millets (both processed and unprocessed) and their product formulations, aiming to maximize the inherent health potential of millets. In this regard, Dr. Ashwani Kumar and Dr. Anita Kumari are leading a project titled “Development of millet-based food products: optimization, characterization, and validation” under the millet program of the SHRI Cell, DST (Govt. of India), with Dr. Kumar serving as Co-Principal Investigator and Dr. Kumari as Principal Investigator
