CHANDIGARH, 09.03.25-Thalassemic Charitable Trust organized its 311th blood donation camp on 08.03.25 in collaboration with Department of Transfusion Medicine PGIMER, Chandigarh to celebrate International Women's Day.
The camp was organised for patients of Thalassaemia in Blood Donation Complex of PGIMER. Thalassemics need life long blood transfusions after 15-20 days to keep optimum level of hemoglobin for survival. 152 units of blood were collected from honourable voluntary blood donors. The camp was inaugurated by Prof(Dr) Sadhna Lal, Deptt of Paediatrics Gastroenterology & Hepatology , PGIMER. Chandigarh. Prof(Dr) Rati Ram Sharma, Head Deptt of Transfusion Medicine PGIMER and Prof(Dr) Ashish Jain were Guest of Honour. They blessed and motivated the blood donors. International Women's Day was celebrated by cake cutting ceremony by women Thalassemics.in presence of honoured guests. Ms Sandhya Wadhwa donated blood for 11th time.
Mr Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust was main Coordinator of the camp and Executive Committee, consisting of members Sapna Gambhir, Dr Viney Sood, A P Singh, Amit Sood, Vikas Makkar and staff of Thalassaemic Charitable Trust participated in the camp organization.
Prof(Dr) R R Sharma HoD, Department of Transfusion Medicine PGIMER and Shri Rajinder Kalra, Member Secretary of the Trust thanked voluntary blood donors and Dr. Sangeeta, Asstt Prof. and team of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER for the success of this camp. They emphasised the need for voluntary blood donation to save precious lives needing blood support.
