CHANDIGARH, 22.11.24-The Postgraduate Departments of Economics and Commerce at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, under the aegis of IQAC, conducted an interactive session on Financial Literacy. The resource person Mr. Joginder Bhutani, a financial literacy counsellor and ex-AGM of SBI, began with imparting of knowledge regarding financial inclusion, financial security, and various other financial services that must be known to every Indian citizen. He shed light on the Government of India’s schemes and policies, like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna, to provide the citizens of the country with financial aid and promote financial inclusion. Mr. Bhutani educated participants about depreciation in value of money due to inflation in the market, and its effect on the interest on savings as well as the rest of the market. He highlighted three most important factors to keep in mind while investing the money, namely, security, return and liquidity. Furthermore, he emphasised on the significance of the e-banking sector, and also discussed the rising cyber frauds and crimes and tips to safeguard from these. The queries of the participants were suitably addressed by the expert during the interactive session.
Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan, applauded this initiative to spread awareness about various aspects of financial literacy. She highlighted the importance of empowering the citizens with knowledge of crucial financial matters, and added that this session would have surely benefitted the students by providing them major insights into the subject.
