Batala, December 6:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday slammed the traditional political parties of the state for backstabbing the brave people of the border region by ruining their several generations for their vested political interests.
Addressing the gathering after dedicating newly upgraded Sugar Mill at Batala, the Chief Minister bemoaned that the progressive and fertile border region of the state has lagged behind in the pace of development due to apathetic attitude of the traditional political parties. He said that the leaders of these parties ruined the younger generations of the state by implicating them in false cases by misusing their power. Bhagwant Singh Mann that the residents of border districts of the state are brave people who have always safeguarded the unity and sovereignty of the country.
The Chief Minister said that this is the sacred land blessed by great Gurus and is inhabited by brave and hard working people who have suffered due to political vendetta of traditional parties. He said that this region which had produced great patriots and nationalists had not witnessed the development during the regime of traditional parties. Bhagwant Singh Mann bemoaned that despite their enormous contribution the people of this region have been deceived by the traditional parties.
However, the Chief Minister said that his government is working tirelessly for development of this region due to which this upgraded sugar mill has been constructed at a cost of Rs Cost 296 crore. He said that the mill has a capacity of crushing 3500 tons of sugar and houses a co-generation plant of 14 Mega Watts. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that refined sugar will be produced in this mill adding that this will be the first cooperative sugar mill of the state to do so.
The Chief Minister said that the mill has a target of crushing 35 lakh quintal sugarcane in the current season adding that it is a very environmentally friendly plant. He said that this is the first of its kind Sugar Mill in India where 100% of gas will be injected in the pipeline. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the capacity of the mill was 14000 Cubic meters daily and it will prevent pollution equal to that caused by 30,000 cars in the environment.
The Chief Minister said that it will process over 150 tons of waste daily and will produce 20 tons of the best organic fertilizer thereby giving impetus to the local economy. He said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Bahadurpur is the first village in Punjab to have a pipeline to deliver cooking gas. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this mill has been equipped with the latest available technology across the globe adding that it will immensely benefit the sugarcane cultivators of the region.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that Punjab is giving the highest rate of sugarcane not only in the country but across the globe thereby immensely benefitting its farmers. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state will continue to lead the country in maximum sugarcane price as per the commitment of the state government. He said that his government has always provided high rates to the sugarcane cultivators and this trend will continue in future too.
The Chief Minister said that the social bonding in the state is so strong that any seed could grow on the fertile land of Punjab but the seed of hatred will never germinate here at any cost. He said that though futile attempts are being made to disturb hard earned peace of state, Punjab is a sacred land of great Gurus, saints and seers who have shown us the path of mutual love and tolerance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Punjabis have always opposed tyranny, injustice and oppression by cementing the bond of love and harmony.
The Chief Minister said that AAP is credited for bringing sectors like health, education, power, water and infrastructure at the centre stage of national politics. He said that these sectors are the top five priorities of his government and no stone is being left unturned for it. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that while the other political parties have always pursued the agenda of hatred and divisiveness, AAP had given new direction to politics by according top priority to these sectors.
Quoting verse ‘Pawan Guru, Paani Pitaah, Mata Dharat Mahat’ from Gurbani, the Chief Minister said that the great Gurus have equated air (pawan) with teacher, water (paani) with father and land (dharat) with mother. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that now the time has come when we must imbibe the teachings of Gurbani in our lives for restoring the pristine glory of the state by resolving to save the environment of the state. He said that the state government is setting up such plants to reduce pollution thereby helping in making the state clean, green and pollution free.
Taking a jibe at the Akali leaders, the Chief Minister said that despite of tall lip service, these leaders failed to deliver anything tangible to the people. He said that due to such misdeeds only the Akali leaders are now facing public wrath adding that in a democracy the power of a common man is supreme. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that those who claimed that they will rule for 25 years have been sent to political oblivion by the people.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is setting up such projects to generate employment opportunities for the youth. He said that the state government is making concerted efforts to ensure that the jobs are given to local youth. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will help in reversing the trend of people migrating abroad in search of jobs thereby making youth an active partner in social economic progress of the state.

CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, December 6:Amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state, Commissionerate Police (CP) Amritsar has successfully averted a possible grenade attack on a police establishment in Batala area with the arrest of 10 persons including four key operatives of cross-border terror module being operated by Pak-based Harvinder Rinda and foreign-based Happy Passian, Jeevan Fauji and Jashanpreet Singh alias Lal, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Friday.
The four arrested key operatives have been identified as Arjanpreet Singh of Awan Ramdas in Amritsar, Lovepreet Singh alias Love of Perhewal in Amritsar, Basant Singh and Amanpreet Singh alias Aman, both residents of Baba Bakala Sahib in Amritsar. While, the six handlers, who were involved in providing logistic support, have been identified as Barinderpal Singh alias Mani and Rajbir Singh alias Raju, both residents of Katle in Amritsar; Vishvas Masih alias Bhabbo of Bhaganpura in Amritsar; Dilpreet Singh alias Manna, Harjot Kumar alias Mithu and Joyal Masih alias Rohan alias Nony, trio residents of Dera Baba Nanak in Batala.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that police teams have also recovered three pistols— including two .30 bore and one .32 bore, one hand grenade and one drone from their possession. Further investigations are ongoing to establish forward and backward linkages in this case, he added.
Sharing more details, CP Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that acting on credible inputs about the module’s activities, Amritsar Commissionerate has launched an intel-based operation and arrested all the accused persons from different areas including Ramdas area of Amritsar Rural, Batala and Amritsar City. Recoveries were effected from village Khana Chamara in Dera Baba Nanak, Village Awaan in Ramdas and Vallah area of Amritsar city, he added.
The CP said that with arrest of accused persons Basant Singh and Amanpreet Singh alias Aman, Amristar Commissionerate Police has also solved the case of an attack on a police officer’s residence in Batala, which took place on November 28, 2024.
He said that police teams have also identified another main operative of this module and police teams are on manhunt to apprehend him.
A case FIR No. 191 dated 03.12.2024 has been registered under sections 111(1), 111(2), 111(3), 111(4), 249 and 253 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and sections 25(6) and 25(7) of the Arms Act at Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar.

Punjab Villages to have 144 New water supply schemes at a cost of Rs 160 crores - Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian

Sunam Udham Singh Wala /Chandigarh, December 6 -Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister, Hardeep Singh Mundian, today, dedicated new water supply projects costing about Rs 4.21 crore in three villages of Sunam Udham Singh Wala assembly constituency.
Addressing the gatherings, Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has been ensuring all out efforts to provide clean drinking water to the houses of the people. in compliance with all the schemes of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department are being successfully implemented. He said that an estimated budget demand of Rs 160 crore has been submitted to the Punjab Government for the construction of new water supply schemes in 144 villages of the state, which is expected to be approved soon.
He said that under this mission, Rs. 25.61 crore has already been approved previous year, for 37 villages of Sangrur district, in which 87,053 villagers have been provided with potable drinking water. He also added that projects worth Rs. 28.32 crore are under approval for the construction of water supply schemes in 24 villages of Sangrur district.
Cabinet Minister, while inaugurating the water supply schemes prepared at a cost of Rs. 4.21 crore in Bishanpura Akalgarh, Tolewal and Dhadrian villages, said that overhead water tanks, tubewells, 29 km of new pipeline and solar system have been installed under these schemes, that ensured uninterrupted supply of pure drinking water to 7218 villagers.
Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian added that Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, who is representing the Sunam assembly constituency as an MLA and also leading the Aam Aadmi Party as state president, leaving no stone unturned to make Sunam constituency, a model constituency, had initiated these schemes, that have been dedicated to the people today.
Among the prominent persons present on the occasion, included, Chief Engineer JJ Goyal, Superintending Engineer Manoj Malhotra, SDM Charanjot Singh Walia, Executive Engineer Water Supply and Sanitation Honey Gupta.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains lays foundation stone for upgrading Shaheed E Azam Sukhdev Thapar School of Eminence
Punjab Government has brought revolutionary transformation in education Sector- Bains
Ludhiana, December 6 -Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains laid the foundation stone for the upgrading Shaheed E Azam Sukhdev Thapar School of Eminence, Bharat Nagar, at a cost of around Rs 17 crores.
Accompanied by MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, Markfed Chairman Amandeep Singh Mohie, and Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, Cabinet Minister Bains noted that the new works will include a state-of-the-art indoor sports facility, a multipurpose hall, new science laboratories, additional classrooms, roof tiling, new doors and windows, new electrical wiring, sewage system, covered parking area for students, a shelter for mid-day meals, the demolition of the old hall for the construction of seven new classrooms on the ground floor with bathrooms, basketball court, a new main entrance, a waiting area for parents, and more. These works will be completed in approximately next 11 months time, transforming the school into an best institution. The indoor sports complex will be named in honour of Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh Ji, he mentioned.
Bains emphasized that Schools of Eminence are being established across Punjab, ensuring that students in government schools have access to facilities comparable to be found in convent schools. He highlighted that Shaheed-E-Azam Sukhdev Thapar School of Eminence, located at Bharat Nagar Chowk in Ludhiana, is one of the most esteemed institutions, currently educating around 2000 students. He said that this would be the second school of Eminence of Ludhiana city that would have all ultra modern facilities.
The Minister also revealed that five new Schools of Eminence (SOEs) will be inaugurated for the people in the coming months by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Significant efforts are already underway to ensure high-quality infrastructure in government schools, including boundary walls, furniture, sports facilities, and more. He also discussed the Business Blaster initiative aimed at cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit among students, motivating them to transition from job seekers to job creators. By involving students in practical business ventures, the program promotes essential skills such as creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Under this scheme, each selected student receives seed funding of Rs 2,000 to develop their business ideas. Additionally, he also mentioned Mission Samarth, which aims to enhance foundational literacy and numeracy skills for children in grades 3 to 8.
