*January 1, New Delhi*On the first day of the new year, Chief Minister Atishi led the registration process of granthis and priests from various gurudwaras and temples in her constituency, Kalkaji, under the 'Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana.' CM Atishi registered granthis at the Gurudwara in Giri Nagar and priests at the Raghunath Temple in Kalkaji. During the event, granthis thanked AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal for the scheme and performed an Ardas, and the priests conducted prayers in the temple.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Atishi said, “Two days ago, Arvind Kejriwal made a significant announcement that after the AAP government is re-elected in Delhi, all priests from temples and granthis from gurudwaras will receive an honorarium of ₹18,000 per month.”
She further added, “We thought about this scheme because granthis and priests stand by us in every joy and sorrow in life. When children are born in our families, granthis and priests are with us. During times of grief, when we lose a loved one, they are also by our side.”
CM Atishi also emphasised, “Those who are with us in every moment of joy and sorrow, those who keep us connected to our culture and heritage, should not face difficulties in their livelihood. This honorarium has been announced to alleviate such challenges.”
She remarked, “No government in this country has ever thought about the welfare of priests and granthis. But we are committed to their welfare, which is why Arvind Kejriwal initiated the registration process for this scheme yesterday.”
On the occasion of new year, CM Atishi said, “I pray to God to bless all of us, and that we continue to have the opportunity to serve the people of Delhi as we have for the past 10 years.”
