CHANDIGARH, 30.01.25-The Department of Environment Studies, in collaboration with 'Dharini' Environment Awareness Society of the Post Graduate Government College Sector-46, Chandigarh, organised an expert talk on 'Solid Waste Management in Chandigarh'. The talk was organised under the ongoing series of Eco Consiusness Lectures by the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration. Ms. Charul Sharma, Project Associate from the Department of Environment , Chandigarh Administration, was the speaker for the day. Principal of the college Professor J.K Sehgal graced the occasion and stressed the importance of three R s (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) in Solid Waste Management. Effective solid waste management requires a collective effort so there is a need to adopt sustainable practices and, support initiatives, he added.
The speaker of the day, Ms. Charul Sharma talked about how Solid Waste Management has become a major concern. Cities, states, and countries are struggling to manage and find solutions to this ever rising menace. A booklet published by the climate change cell, Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration was distributed to all the participants to generate awareness. The event was organised by Dr. Ritu Sarsoha and Dr. Amanpreet Kaur from the Department of Environment Studies.
