SHIMLA- 10 March, 2025-Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today launched "Arcaen", an anthology of folklore, at Raj Bhavan. The comprehensive collection is a collaborative effort of final-year students of B.A. English Honours and M.A. English under the guidance of Snigdha Bhatt and Asmita Sharma, Assistant Professors in the department of English in St. Bedes College, Shimla.

"Arcaen" presents a rich tapestry of tales that highlight the cultural heritage of various communities, offering profound insights into shared human experiences. The anthology serves as a repository of cultural wisdom, preserving oral traditions and presenting narratives that have been transmitted across generations. Through its diverse stories and universal themes, the collection emphasizes resilience, community bonds, and the intricate relationship between people and their surroundings.

On the occasion, the Governor appreciated St. Bede’s College for this commendable initiative that not only provided students with an opportunity to showcase their writing talents but also enabled them to explore and document the cultural narratives of their regions. He congratulated Prof. Molly Abraham for her leadership and vision in encouraging students to delve into the oral traditions that form the cornerstone of diverse societies.

The Governor emphasized the lasting significance of preserving oral traditions, acknowledging the anthology's role in fostering a deeper appreciation for storytelling and collective cultural experiences. He expressed hope that "Arcaen" would inspire further efforts to document and celebrate the rich folklore of Himachal Pradesh and beyond.

The event concluded with an interactive session where the students shared their experiences of working on the anthology, reflecting on the importance of preserving cultural narratives for future generations. The launch ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Molly Abraham, Principal of St. Bede’s College, along with Snigdha Bhatt, Asmita Sharma, and students Kanupriya and Harshita Thakur.

Secretary to Governor C.P. Verma was also present on the occasion.
