SHIMLA -26th March, 2025-A group of students from the Journalism and Mass Communication and Social Work departments of Himachal Pradesh University met Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri at the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha today. The students were on their visit to observe the Assembly proceedings.

While interacting with the students, the Deputy Chief Minister shared his experiences from his career as a journalist and recalled how he used to report on Vidhan Sabha proceedings. He said that being in journalism had greatly contributed to his political journey and equipped him with analytical skills and a deep understanding of public affairs.

He said the state government was committed to strengthen the education sector by providing world-class facilities and continuously working to enhance academic standards. He also outlined key government initiatives aimed at supporting students, including the Sukh Shiksha Yojana and the Dr. Y.S. Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojana Scheme, under which financial assistance was provided for higher education abroad. He said that apart from this the government was making efforts to facilitate employment opportunities for youth overseas.

He also encouraged the students to work hard and contribute meaningfully for the development of the nation.

HOD of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, HPU and Senior Journalist Dr. Shashi Kant Sharma, Associate Professor, Social Work Dr. Anupama Bharti was also present on the occasion.
