CHANDIGARH, 25.04.25-In a heartwarming send-off to the outgoing batch of 2024-25, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised ‘Aayam’- the College Farewell, and ‘Udaan’- the Hostel Farewell. The farewells- cultural, fun-filled extravaganzas were befitting adieu to the students who would be leaving the portals of the college to explore the real world. Aayam and Udaan were graced by Dr. Navjot Khosa, IAS, Director of Census Operations and Citizen Registration (Punjab and UT Chandigarh), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and Ms. Khushpreet Kaur, DANICS, SDM East, Chandigarh Administration, as the Chief Guest, respectively.

Dr. Navjot Khosa expressed nostalgia at being back at an educational institution, and said that the journey from a student to a guest brings a sense of pride and joy, and requires grit, determination and perseverance. As the students embark on a new chapter of life, Dr. Khosa shared a few things for them to keep in mind, including having a vision for one’s life that includes the micro as well as the macro goals, not being obsessed with looks, developing soft skills, taking care of one’s physical, mental, emotional and financial health, and giving back to the society.

Ms. Khushpreet Kaur said that it is a place where strangers become friends, and friends become family. She encouraged the students to follow their dreams while prioritising themselves. Ms Khushpreet Kaur impressed upon the fact that financial independence is imperative for women, and urged the students to chart their own path as per their uniqueness.

Foot tapping, electrifying dance performances, including Haryanvi, Manipuri, Bollywood themed, added to the exuberance of the students who sang and danced along, making cherishable memories to last a lifetime. The highlight of the two events was MCM Queen Contest and MCM Hostel Queen Contest, that witnessed beautiful confident young women walk down the ramp in style, upping the glamour quotient of the event.

In her affectionate and motivating address to the outgoing students, Officiating Principal Ms Neena Sharma reminded them that the beauty of life lies in the beauty of one’s dreams. She added that as these young women step out of the portals of the college with hopes of a bright future, the college has given them a strong foundation, conviction and values to succeed in life. Ms. Sharma inspired them to keep their aspirations high, keep reinventing themselves, and make an impact on the society.
