CHANDIGARH, 28.04.25-The Department of Public Administration and the Sustainable Practices Cell of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised an event dedicated to exploring the significance of water across various disciplines.
The event commenced with an address by Mr. Ramveer Tanwar, popularly known as the ‘Pond Man’, conservationist, and Tedx speaker. His words were not just informative but deeply moving, leaving the audience with a newfound appreciation for water conservation. Having revived around 80 ponds across 6 states and created urban forests, his work has transformed entire ecosystems and turned barren landscapes into thriving habitats. His remarkable initiatives have not only rejuvenated natural water sources but also enhanced biodiversity and community well-being. Under the banner of Suniye Sunaiye, the college’s initiative to revive the lost art of reading and listening, the storytelling segment commenced. The storytelling competition winners were then announced and applauded for their exceptional narrative skills. The most anticipated segment of the event, the Water Quiz, began with a preliminary round, from which 4 teams were selected. The six-round main quiz was an exhilarating battle of knowledge, spanning topics of governance, culture, science, mythology, literature, and movies, along with an intense visual round. The Committee demonstrated small steps of sustainability by choosing to use paper for display, use of dupattas and potted plants for decoration, distribution of handmade books as prizes, etc.
Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma lauded this unforgettable celebration of knowledge, storytelling, and the timeless significance of water. She highlighted the event’s significance as she said that it brings spotlight on one of the most important element for human existence i.e. water.
