Ludhiana 28 February 2024-The College of Animal Biotechnology, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana celebrated its foundation day. Fine arts and literary competitions were organized for students and faculty of the college. Prof. (Dr.) Yashpal Singh Malik, Dean of the college, welcomed all the guests and highlighted various activities of the college and the significant developments since its inception. Dr R.S. Ranu, eminent scientist from MIT, U.S.A., and Dr G.S. Brah, former Director, School of Animal Biotechnology was the Guest of Honours.

Dr. Ranu enriched the students and faculty with his experiences as a Biotechnologist working in close collaboration with Nobel Laureate, Dr Hargobind Khurana. Dr. Brah shared his memories about the creation of the Department and subsequently School of Animal Biotechnology.

Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, the Chief Guest for the event congratulated the faculty, staff and students of the college on the foundation day and encouraged students to actively take part in co-curricular activities. He also elaborated on the kind of research leads and farmer services provided by the college especially the parentage determination, growth hormone detection and cytogenetic profiling. He further appreciated that the college has taken all the research projects in an industrial mode giving a number of deliverables in a short span of time.

The Officers of the University graced the occasion with their valuable presence. Dr. Satparkash Singh, Organizing Secretary of the event informed that students, faculty and staff of the college enthusiastically participated in various offstage events such as Photography, Rangoli, and Extempore, during the celebrations. He thanked everyone for the support to make the event a successful one. Event concluded with the prize distribution to the winners of various competitions.
