Ludhiana 05 March 2024-Dr. Ashok Kumar, Assistant Director General of ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. Naresh Jindal, Director of Research at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (LUUVAS), Hisar, and Dr. Vikram Saini, Scientist from Department of Biotechnology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi interacted with the participants during ongoing 21-day ICAR sponsored winter school program at Centre for One Health of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. The event witnessed esteemed guest speakers and insightful discussions aimed at strengthening India's One Health framework to combat emerging health challenges.
Dr. Ashok, briefed about the insights into ongoing One Health initiatives and policies and also illuminating the audience through case studies for effective implementation of One health framework in India. He further emphasized strategies to strengthen the nation's approach towards combating zoonoses, antimicrobial resistance, and ensuring food safety. Dr. Naresh Jindal, enriched the occasion with his expertise by an enlightening lecture on combating aflatoxin in animal feed to ensure the safe food production, and provided participants with actionable knowledge and sparked engaging interactions. Furthermore, Dr. Vikram Saini shared his expertise on laboratory biosafety and biosecurity protocols during the handling of biological materials. His session highlighted crucial measures necessary for safe laboratory research practices.
Dr. JPS Gill, Director of Research, motivated the participants to carry out intersectoral research to resolve regional and national challenges of animal and human health. Expressing gratitude to the esteemed speakers, Dr. J. S. Bedi, Course Director, emphasized the importance of collaborative academic and research efforts among participants in their future endeavours.
