Chandigarh, March 23: Today, celebrating the legacy of Saheed-A-Azam Bhagat Singh on his martyrdom day a group of 21 peace-lovers led by Mr. Pramod Sharma, founder, Yuvsatta and Brig. Ravi Muniswamy, Rtd., former ADC of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, was flagged-off S. Avtar Singh Paul, a senior peace activist from Peoples Convention Centre. The bicycle yatra began first with an Interfaith Harmony Prayer for Peace and Unity of South Asia, by Maulana Mohammad Imran of Jama Masjid, Pandit Harish Sharma and Col. Jagtar Singh Multani, Secretary General of International Sikh Confederation.

Giving information about the initiative Mr. Pramod Sharma informed that this is a joint initiative of Yuvsatta (youth for peace), International Sikh Confederation and many more like minded organizations/institutions. Initial plans of this Pedal4Peace Bicycle Yatra were to pedal from Chandigarh to the birthplace of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at village Bange, district Faisalabad via Lahore, Pakistan but despite their best of efforts, their group was not able to get the necessary visas to enter Pakistan.

Brig. Ravi Muniswamy added that their unwavering commitment for better Indo-Pak relations and peaceful future of South Asia is now taking them till Wagah Border, Amritsar.

Col. Jagtar Singh Multani shared that today this group of peace lovers will first pay homage at the memorial of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan and later will hold a public meeting at nearby Sangat Singh Khalsa College.

Mr. Avtar Singh Paul in his concluding remarks said that with the changing global paradigm shift for greater peace, stability and unity of Asia, we soon will see that like the European Union these visa and trade restrictions will soon be lifted all over Asia as well.
