Indian Patent Office grants registration to handicraft chair design developed by researchers at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University

Chandigarh, ( DIPR HARYANA <diprlhry1@gmail.com)April 26 - The Indian Patent Office has awarded registration to the design of a handicraft chair innovated by researchers at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. This distinctive design has also earned certification from the Government of India, bearing the design number 386667-001. The design of this chair was spearheaded by research students Ayesha and Meenu Jakhar, under the expert guidance of Dr. Manju Mehta, the Director of Human Resource Management at the University.

Expressing his delight, Vice Chancellor Prof. B.R. Kamboj lauded the continuous stream of accomplishments emanating from the University, attributing them to the diligent efforts of its scientists and researchers. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the Director of Human Resource Management and the research team for the official registration of their design. Prof. Kamboj emphasized the significance of such achievements, noting that they not only propel the university's reputation forward but also provide invaluable opportunities for students to excel in the realm of handicraft design.

University made notable achievements in intellectual property rights

Prof. Kamboj said that in the last few years, CCSHAU had applied to the Indian Patent, Design, Trademark and Copyright Office to obtain intellectual property rights for 119 innovations. Out of which rights have been granted so far for 54 technologies. Achieving notable achievements in the last 3 years, the University has obtained a total of 28 intellectual property rights including 6 patents, 11 copyrights and 11 designs. On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Rights Day, he said that Intellectual Property Rights is the pillar of research quality and educational level of any institute or country. It has an important contribution in the global ranking of the university and the employability of researchers. Getting intellectual property rights for a technology also increases its commercial prospects and credibility. Therefore, efforts are underway to increase intellectual property in various countries at the global level.

Director of Human Resource Management Dr. Manju Mehta and researchers told that two panels have been made in this chair, which are on both the left and right sides. The right panel can be used to hold tools while drawing or painting and the left panel can be used to hold drawing sheets. Both the panels are foldable which follows the principle of space management and does not occupy extra space. The back support and cushioning seat protects the person from back pain and spinal cord injury. An ergonomic foot rest is provided to improve comfort when sitting for long periods of time. This work station protects users from various musculoskeletal disorders caused by improper posture.

ACS Vineet Garg inspects procurement arrangements in Fatehabad and Ratia Grain Markets

Procurement agencies should accelerate wheat crop lifting

Chandigarh, April 26 - Haryana Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department Sh Vineet Garg today conducted a visit to several grain markets in Fatehabad district to assess crop procurement process. He said that proper arrangements have been made to ensure that farmers do not face any kind of trouble in selling their produce. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of ensuring seamless crop lifting.

Earlier, the Additional Chief Secretary convened a meeting with officials at the Public Works Department's rest house to review the preparations for wheat procurement in the district.

The Additional Chief Secretary instructed officials to ensure timely payment to farmers for their crops. Additionally, considering the summer season, he emphasized the need for adequate provisions such as clean drinking water, electricity, toilets, and gunny bags at the grain markets in the district. Furthermore, he engaged with traders and farmers, attentively addressing their concerns.

ACS Vineet Garg encouraged farmers to bring their crops to the markets and procurement centers only after thoroughly drying and cleaning them, enabling procurement agencies to purchase their produce promptly. He directed officers to ensure adequate arrangements for gunny bags and other necessities in the mandis, as well as proper facilities for crop storage. He said that every grain of the farmers’ crop would be procured at the minimum support price, ensuring fair compensation for their produce.

Ensuring Fairness and Transparency: Haryana Prepares for Lok Sabha General Elections-2024

Chandigarh, April 26 - As Haryana gears up for the Lok Sabha General Elections-2024, a steadfast commitment to fairness and transparency under the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India and the Model Code of Conduct is being diligently maintained in the State. The Election Commission is resolute in safeguarding voters from any form of inducement, with a keen focus on monitoring the movement of illicit substances such as liquor, drugs, and cash across the state.

A comprehensive effort by various agencies has resulted in the seizure of illicit liquor, drugs, and cash valued at over Rs 25.45 crore in Haryana so far, highlighting the rigorous enforcement measures undertaken to uphold electoral integrity.

Divulging more details in this regard Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Anurag Agarwal said that stringent action has been taken by the police, Income Tax Department, Excise and Taxation Department, and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in the state after the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct. As a result of which, a total of Rs. 4.33 crore illicit cash has been seized, including Rs. 71.21 lakh seized by the police, Rs. 81.19 lakh by the Income Tax Department, Rs. 3.04 lakh by the Excise Department, and Rs. 278 lakh by the DRI, he shared.

Besides this, various agencies have confiscated over 2,67,821 liters of illicit liquor valued at Rs 8.40 crore. This includes 1,75,140 liters seized by the police worth Rs 552.23 lakh and 92,669 liters seized by the Excise Department worth Rs 288.19 lakh, said Sh. Anurag Agarwal.

He said that a total of 5,844.44 kg of drugs, narcotics worth Rs 9.38 crore, have been seized by the agencies. The police have seized 5,839.18 kg of narcotics worth Rs 9.34 crore. Additionally, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has confiscated 2 kg of drugs valued at Rs 4 lakh. Apart from this, valuables worth Rs 1.73 crore and other items worth Rs 1.59 crore have also been seized.

Citizens Vigilant: Reporting Model Code of Conduct Violations Ahead of Haryana Elections

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the notification for elections in Haryana is to be issued on April 29, but the voters of the state are already very aware. Despite the official notification for elections scheduled on April 29, voters have already raised 2541 complaints through the C-Vigil mobile app. Out of these complaints, after scrutiny by the Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers, 2195 complaints were found to be true, on which action has been taken as per rules.

All District Election Officers/Deputy Commissioners of the state directed to address rising heat concerns

Chandigarh (DIPR HARYANA <diprlhry1@gmail.com>), April 26 – Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh Anurag Agarwal said that in view of the challenges posed by the prevailing heatwave conditions during the Lok Sabha General Elections 2024, instructions were given to all the District Election Officers/Deputy Commissioners of the state to ensure the provision of supplementary resources at all polling stations. Furthermore, arrangements such as adequate shade, seating, and fans are to be made available for voters waiting in queues to shield them from direct sunlight.

Sh. Agarwal underscored the importance of extending special assistance to vulnerable groups, including senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Notably, the Election Commission of India has enabled those with disabilities exceeding 40 percent and senior citizens aged over 85 years to exercise their voting rights from home. Apart from this, proper ventilation must be ensured at every polling station.

Shri Anurag Aggarwal said that training sessions for polling station staff should also include information on recognizing the symptoms of heat-related illnesses and appropriate response, procedures. In addition, he stressed the need to coordinate supplementary resources for handling heatwaves in collaboration with local government agencies, health departments, and emergency services.

67th National School Boys Basketball Championship to take place in Gurugram

Haryana Chief Secretary will inaugurate the competition

44 teams from across the country will participate in the event

Chandigarh, April 26 – Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. T.V.S.N. Prasad will inaugurate the 'National School Boys Basketball Championship' in Gurugram, Haryana, on April 27.

According to a government spokesperson, the 67th National Basketball Championship will be held from April 27 to April 30 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurugram under the auspices of the School Games Federation of India. Haryana Chief Secretary Sh T.V.S.N. Prasad will inaugurate the event on April 27 at 5:30 pm.

The spokesperson further stated that this tournament will be for boys under 17 years of age, with a total of 44 teams from across the country participating.

The spokesperson also mentioned that the championship will conclude on April 30.

A meeting was convened by the committee of the University Grants Commission, tasked with formulating the curriculum, credit framework, and evaluation methods for vocational education

Chandigarh, April 26 - A concerted effort is underway to develop a uniform curriculum for vocational education across the nation, aligned with the principles outlined in the National Education Policy 2020. To achieve this goal, a meeting was convened by the UGC Committee chaired by Dr. Raj Nehru, Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Kaushal University, focusing on drafting the curriculum, credit framework, and assessment standards.

The meeting saw the participation of esteemed individuals including Vice Chancellor of Centurion University of Technology and Management, Professor Supriya Patnaik, Professor of Practice at IIT Delhi, Professor Bhupinder Godara, Professor of Practice at IIT Madras, Dr. V R Lalithambika, Professor Prashant Gupta from IIM Nagpur, and Deputy Secretary of the University Grants Commission, Monica, as coordinating officers. Chairman of the committee, Dr. Raj Nehru said that the committee will soon submit its recommendation to the University Grants Commission.

During this meeting, extensive brainstorming was conducted on the structure of vocational education. The primary focus is to establish a uniform structure of vocational education nationwide, in accordance with the National Education Policy. Dr. Raj Nehru, Chairman of the committee and Vice Chancellor of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, emphasized the crucial importance of aligning vocational education with the demands of emerging technology and industry. This alignment will render the courses employable and ensure that the industry receives job-ready human resources. Additionally, standardization of the credit framework in vocational education and determination of evaluation standards will be undertaken.

He said that dimensions such as on-the-job training, industry integration, and entrepreneurship are crucial for vocational education at present. Dr. Raj Nehru highlighted that connecting all these elements will benefit both the industry and increase employment opportunities. He further stated that the committee will forward its recommendations to the University Grants Commission to modernize and standardize the vocational education system. In this significant meeting, renowned experts from the country have offered their suggestions. Professor RS Rathore, the Academic Dean of Shri Vishwakarma Kaushal Vishwavidyalaya, mentioned that the university has already incorporated many aspects into its model and conducted new experiments in line with the National Education Policy.
